2011 Disney World Marathon Monday – Marathon Weekend Recap 5

Marathon Monday was a busy one!  We booked breakfast at the Crystal Palace for 8:30 a.m.  Our plan for the day was to spend Marathon Monday in the Magic Kingdom (Heather and Bobby were going to join us for lunch!).  Disney gave each Marathon runner a free ticket into one of their parks on this day so we could enjoy ourselves after the race!

On our way there, we took a boat from WL to the Contemporary, where we ran across these….

Yikes!  That’s DEFINITELY a NO!  I’m taking the doors on the first floor! :0)

I have NO clue what possessed me, but we decided not to take the escalators up to the Monorail – instead, we walked to the MK!  (I’ve never done this before and it was a neat little walk!)!

The main problem I kept running into is that I couldn’t walk very fast.  Jason is used to my “hospital walk”and he got way ahead of me a LOT.  I had to tell him many times to SLOW DOWN!  Haha!

We were able to get my ticket certified with no problems, then we were allowed inside early because we had a Character breakfast planned!

The weather did a number to my hair. Ugh.

DSC_0549

I know we were just at the Crystal Palace the day before for lunch, but we didn’t mind! :0)  I like this place!

I posted this picture on Facebook with the caption… “Mickey Medal or Mickey Waffle?”

Well, my wonderful husband who thinks he’s funny left the comment “ONE?!  Try SIX, piggy!”  I saw his comment and responded, “JASON!  I didn’t even eat that ONE!”

This of course brought on a slew of comments… “You just ran a Marathon, you can eat as many waffles as you want!”  “You don’t need to worry about the calories you look fine…” etc.

Oh boy.  My husband just thought he was being funny and had no idea what he started.  He has NEVER told me that I couldn’t eat something or prevented me from eating anything.  I had to come to his rescue and defend him!  What a mess!  Hah!

Anyway, on with breakfast!

DSC_0550

This was too cute!  Jason and Eeyore did the fist pound, then a slide.

After we ate, we decided to walk (I hobbled) over to Tomorrowland but on the way, we ran into these ladies!  They were SO funny!  The one in red reported that she has a contraption in her house a “tread” from the “mill” and she was going to start using it again soon.  The one in gold said that she’s allergic to hay and shouldn’t go anywhere near this “mill”.  It gave her “tingles” just thinking about it!  Hehe!

After our Tomorrowland adventures, we found Heather and Bobby, and continued our hobble around the Magic Kingdom!

We had lunch reservations for Liberty Tree Tavern and on our way there, we saw these guys!  My husband is a trumpet player (it was his first degree) so he loves watching various bands around the parks!

DSC_0587

Our lunch was SO good!  Especially the dessert! YUM!

DSC_0589

Sometime after lunch and walking around Liberty Square, the heavens decided to open and a monsoon hit the Magic Kingdom. It was awful!

DSC_0605

We took soaking wet pictures with Mickey and Minnie….

DSC_0609

…and I hated it.  I wanted these to be good so I could frame them.  I looked like a drowned rat.  I think this started my grumpiness because after these pictures, I was in a bad mood the rest of the afternoon!

DSC_0610

It POURED. Seriously.

DSC_0614 DSC_0615

I was so unhappy that Bobby told me to stop whining.  Haha!

DSC_0620 DSC_0622

We decided to leave at this point.  Our shoes were squishing and I was soaked (wearing jeans) up to my THIGHS!  Ugh.

DSC_0628

Your immune system is at it’s lowest for 48 hours following your Marathon run, so I knew that I had to get changed, and fast!

We saw Santa on our way out! :0)

DSC_0624

I couldn’t wait changed and get dry!  We stayed in our room for a few minutes but we didn’t want to waste our Marathon Monday tickets so after we changed and dried off, we pretty much turned around and went right back to the Magic Kingdom! :0)

DSC_0641 DSC_0645

The steam off the water!

DSC_0648 DSC_0655

Feeling better!

DSC_0664

I’m a dork I know but I HAD to get a “retake” with Mickey and Minnie!  I was much happier with this photo!!! :0)

impossiblw

I also love this one!!  Cause it’s true…you CAN do the impossible and it’s fun to try! :0)

DSC_0675

We left after night hit and made our way to Fort Wilderness for the Hoop Dee Doo Review!  If you haven’t seen this show, you definitely should!  It’s hilarious!

DSC_0684 DSC_0688

Having a great time!!! :0)

DSC_0730 DSC_0741

We went to Downtown Disney after the show and shopped around for a while, then made our way back to the Wilderness Lodge for a little shut eye! :0)

Over all, I had a good Marathon Monday minus the RAIN!  That wasn’t Disney’s fault, though.  It was a great day!!! :0)

Someone on Twitter reported:

“Disney World was the most hobblingest place on earth today!  Marathon Monday!!”

I think I have to agree with that statement! :0)

2011 Disney World Post-Marathon Fun – Marathon Weekend Recap 4

Wow…….so I just put all of the pictures of our crazy times after the Marathon on this post and wow….looking through them all had me CRACKING up!  Heather, Bobby, Jason, and I are such nerds but we have a blast together!  I love you guys…really, I do! :0)

After the Marathon, we got on a bus for our hotel.  Bonus: NO long line at ALL! Yay!

We showered fast and changed fast since we were late for our Crystal Palace reservations and made our way to the Magic Kingdom!

DSC_0445

Now let the laughter begin……

DSC_0446

Smile, please.  Just take the picture!

DSC_0447 DSC_0448

Bobby is special…it’s ok!  But so is Jason so we make a nice group….Haha!

DSC_0449 DSC_0450

Fun times with the Pooh characters!

DSC_0451 DSC_0452

This was incredibly amusing.  Piglet apparently thought that Bobby’s medal would taste good (?!) so he put it in his mouth.  When Bobby realized what Piglet was doing, he yelled:

DSC_0454

“Don’t eat my medal!
I’LL TURN YOU INTO BACON!”

DSC_0453

I laughed so hard my side hurt.

IT
WAS
HILARIOUS!

Poor Piglet was astounded!  He gestured with his hands like “I have my eyes on you!”  Hilarious…seriously.

DSC_0455

I think Bobby was shocked by what he said….

Anyway, after our many adventures at Crystal Palace, we decided to go back to our hotel and rest.  We all had reservations that night for Whispering Canyon Cafe.  We were excited because we ate there in 2009 after the Marathon (Jen and Crystal ran that day) and we had a blast!

DSC_0460

Heather and I with our medals!

DSC_0461

After Bobby took our picture, he decided to take one of his own with my camera….

 DSC_0463

My husband doesn’t know how to smile, either….

DSC_0464 DSC_0465 DSC_0466

Nerd.

DSC_0467 DSC_0468

I’m not sure what’s going on here but this picture CRACKS me up!  This wasn’t even our waitress in the background!!

DSC_0469

We all ordered milkshakes to drink….

DSC_0475

….and The Skillet!  YUM!

DSC_0477

Hungry boys!

DSC_0478 DSC_0479

I told the waitress that we needed ketchup cause it’s fun when you do that!  The only non-fun part was when we had to get up and bring it to another table….cause after you run a Marathon and you sit for a while, it’s hard to get up and move without groaning! :0)

 DSC_0481

DSC_0493

We asked our waitress to take our picture.  Right before she snapped the picture, we said “Everyone hold up your meDals!”  My husband being the weirdo that he is, held up his FORK.  After we took the picture, I inquired as to why his fork was in the air and he said, “You told me to hold up my meTal!”  Wow….

If you’ve never eaten at Whispering Canyon Cafe (for dinner) at the Wilderness Lodge, you are totally missing out!

DSC_0522

These waitresses sang Happy Birthday to a young girl, then before she could do anything with her cupcake, the waitresses started EATING it! It was so funny because it was so unexpected!

DSC_0501

Bobby and Jason messed with our waitress most of the night, so when it came time to celebrate Heather and Bobby’s Anniversary, the waitress was very comical about it.  “They’ve been married four years…I can’t imagine why they’ve lasted that long…” Funny stuff!

DSC_0504

Of course, they made all the Marathon runners stand up and sing/move to “If you’re Happy and you know it….”

 DSC_0507 DSC_0508

“If you’re hurting and you know it, just *groan*…” :0)

DSC_0511 DSC_0512 DSC_0513

After all the shenanigans were over, we left.  Jason and I walked around our floor and out onto the balcony-you can see the Electric Light Parade out in the water! :0)

 DSC_0527

I was exhausted and didn’t last very long after dinner was over.  I was asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow, I think! :0)

What a fun ending to an incredible, dreams-come-true kind of day!
