Brayden's 6 Month Pictures

Last month, I took Brayden for his 6 month pictures. We used the same photographer who did his newborns, because I wanted to have a couple of photos to compare with how much he's grown in such a short amount of time.

This session was completely different from his newborns. Where he slept throughout most of his newborn photos, he was awake the entire time for his six moth session. His newborn session also took about 3 hours and this session lasted about 45 minutes, if even that.

He also wasn't quite as cooperative for these photos (you'll see what I mean later), but there's still a lot of them that I love!

For this session, I brought three outfits for three separate backdrops. The last outfit was a prop the photographer had on hand.

First up was the baseball setup - complete with the baseball prop from his newborn photo session. We also added the glove my dad bought him on his date of birth. Oh yes, and my dad also purchased the baseball outfit he's wearing....we aren't a baseball family or anything! :)

From newborn....

To six months!

Where did my bitty baby go??

You don't really realize just how much things have changed until you look back on photos like these!

Our second setup was with a fall backdrop.

By that point, my little stinker had enough.

Yep, there's that pouty lip...

However, we managed to distract him and get through a few more photos before calling it a day!

Here's another newborn to 6 month transitional picture...

From newborn....

...to six months!

My oh my he's grown so fast.

Our last setup was with a prop the photographer had on hand. I absolutely love these!

It was really interesting to see the difference between his newborn session and his six month session. Babies change, develop, and grow so fast over such a short amount of time, and I love having pictures like these to look back on as my little guy continues to grow!

Brayden's First Halloween

Over the weekend and on Monday, we celebrated Brayden's first Halloween! There's just something special about a first holiday and I just love all things that say "my first (enter designated holiday here)..." :) Watch out, Christmas! Oy.

For Halloween this year, we dressed Brayden up as Stitch (found the costume at the Disney Store) and his cousin dressed as Lilo!

Combine the two and....

Voila! Aren't they just the cutest?!

We took them back to the pumpkin patch for pictures and they had a blast! It was so much fun (for me, too)!

Remember those "my first" items I was talking about earlier? Well, I might have gone a bit overboard on the clothing and accessories. He has two "first Halloween" sleepers, an outfit, and a bib. Whoops.

I mean, who could pass up this cuteness, though?!

Last night, we took "Lilo and Stitch" to a local church for a Fall Festival! It was so much fun!

We met up with my brother and sister in law and our niece to spend the evening! This church really had an awesome layout and setup! It was super easy to move around and although it felt like half my town was there, it wasn't hard to maneuver through at all!

My Ohana! :)

The kids enjoyed playing games....Brayden even got into the spirit of things!

We decided this was one he needed to get a head start on for sure...

There was a pumpkin contest, too. This one was by far my favorite! :)

In all, we spent about an hour at the festival and had a great time! We really enjoyed spending the evening with Jason's sister and her family!

Back at home, we let Brayden survey his winnings....although his reward was in the form of gerber puffs only, no candy yet! :)

That tail, though...

Maybe next year, little dude!

How did you spend your Halloween?

Pumpkin Patch Fun!

On Friday, Jason and I took Brayden to his (and our) very first pumpkin patch! I grew up not far from this pumpkin patch and used to pass it every day on my way to school, so it was fun to bring my baby this year for pictures!

Entry into the pumpkin patch was free and the profit from the pumpkins sold were to benefit a local food bank.

I absolutely LOVED all of the cute little spots for photo ops! There were several photographers out and about taking pictures as well.

I took one of Brayden here and I think it will be fun to compare the pictures from year to year!

He was slightly confused as to what was going on! Hah!

We are going to go back this weekend with family for a few more pictures in their halloween costumes! I can't wait to share them with you guys! :)

This was a fun experience and I'm so glad that something like this was/is offered here!

So much fun with our little pumpkin!

Overall we had a great time! Brayden loved looking around and taking it all in...I'd say he had a great time, too! :)

Are pumpkin patches popular where you live?

6 Month Baby Update

Today marks Brayden's halfway point to being a year old. I can hardly believe it! How has this past year of pregnancy and the months following his birth flown by so fast?!

Clothing: Still a few 3-6 months and 6 months
Diapers: Size 2 - will officially move up to size 3 on the next box :)
Nicknames: Bray-Man, "The Mick", Crazy Pants, Little Monster, Cowboy, Captain

Weight: 18.5 lbs

Likes:

  • Taking a bath and splashing in the water
  • Butternut Squash and Sweet Potatoes
  • Smiling and Laughing
  • When someone makes a funny noise with their mouth
  • Putting anything and everything in his mouth
  • Playing in his jumper
  • Watching and interacting with the dogs
  • The noise of the camera shutter
  • Making noises and blowing bubbles with his mouth
  • Playing with his feet

Dislikes:

  • Rice Cereal (I don't blame him...It's GROSS!)
  • When you take too long to fix his bottle
  • Being overtired
  • Waking up from afternoon naps
  • Really loud noises, especially the noise from the baby food blender
This past month, Brayden officially began eating "real" food. So far, he's had green beans, butternut squash, and sweet potatoes. I've been making his baby food in the Brezza blender and I love it! It's so easy because it steams and blends all in one setting.

In the last update, I mentioned that he loved rice cereal but he fooled me. I mean, have you tasted that stuff? I can't say that I blame him... Now that he's had "real" food, he said no way to rice cereal!

He was pretty iffy about green beans but LOVES butternut squash and sweet potatoes. I'm going to give him carrots next and maybe add a little fruit in the mix after that. I've had to remind myself that just because I don't like a certain food (peas for example) doesn't mean that Brayden won't like them...haha!

I love making his food because I know exactly what goes into it and it's SUPER easy with the Brezza!

A few milestones reached this month include sitting with support and rolling from back to stomach (he literally JUST started consistently rolling back to stomach this past week).

We took family pictures this past month and Brayden did GREAT!

Brayden loves to "taste" anything and everything. If you hand him an item, it will go directly in his mouth. It's rather funny to watch!

Sleeping has been a bit iffy. Sometimes it's great and sometimes it's not. He sleeps through the night most nights but does have a few nights here and there when he wakes up at 3:30 or 4:30 a.m. for a bottle. This past week, it's been almost every night. I'm assuming it's because of a growth spurt.

His next pedi appointment will take place next week, along with his six month immunizations. I'm also going to ask about using the Bob stroller and jogging with Brayden. Now that the afternoons are cooling down, we will be able to get outside a bit more and enjoy the pretty weather!

I also booked a 6 month "grow with me" photography session for this week. It's with the same photographer who took his newborns and she's going to retake a few of our favorite poses to show how much he's grown. I can't wait to see how they turn out!

That's all for this update!

Happy 1/2 birthday, little man!
