Father's Day Weekend 2018

Our Father's Day weekend this year was spent in the hill country of Texas! My brother and sister-in-law recently made a move to the hill country (literally last week) and they invited us to spend the weekend with them. Jason was scheduled to work nights on Father's Day Weekend (sad times), so he wasn't able to join us.

We had so much fun on our Texas adventures, I wanted to share them with you today!

Father's Day Weekend

No trip to Texas is complete without a stop at Buc-ee's! This "rest stop" seriously has it ALL including home decor, clothing, and food!

Father's Day Weekend

We also got to meet the "real" Buc-ee and Brayden gave him a high five! :)

On Saturday, we spent the morning at the San Antonio Zoo! It took us about 3 hours to walk all around and see everything the zoo had to offer. We also arrived just as the zoo was opening, so it wasn't terribly hot and the animals were all out for us to see!

Father's Day Weekend

This was also Brayden's very first zoo experience! Fun times!

Father's Day Weekend

He LOVED the fish!

Father's Day Weekend

Randomly, we saw that one of their elephants was named Karen! Of course, I had to take a picture!

Father's Day Weekend

We arrived at the giraffe area, just in time to feed a few of them. It was so cool to take part in this "extra" experience and see the pure joy on Brayden's face. He LOVED it!

Father's Day Weekend

Father's Day Weekend

This really was a super cool experience and totally worth the extra money to participate!

One of the giraffes was named Brayden, so we (of course) had to take a picture with his sign!

Father's Day Weekend

Birds are also another favorite of Brayden's, and he loved seeing the pink flamingos!

Father's Day Weekend

After the zoo, we cleaned up then had a Father's Day dinner of BBQ to celebrate my dad.

Father's Day Weekend

The brisket was melt-in-your-mouth kinda good! YUM!

Father's Day Weekend

It was a delicious meal!

Father's Day Weekend

Sunday was travel day, but we still spent the morning exploring the surrounding areas around my brother and sister-in-law's home.

Father's Day Weekend

This pancake at Granny D's was seriously as big as my child!

Father's Day Weekend

The downtown area of Gruene is precious! We walked through a flea market type area and a few of the downtown shops. We also explored the oldest dance hall in Texas, the Gruene Hall! (This is where George Strait used to play, back before he was discovered!

Father's Day Weekend

The river was also pretty busy over the weekend...campers and tubers were all over the place!

Father's Day Weekend

It really was a beautiful weekend with perfect weather! The view from my brother and sister-in-law's back porch isn't too shabby, either! :)

Father's Day Weekend

Our weekend ended at In-N-Out Burger, something I only get to have when I travel to California and it had been YEARS since I'd had a burger from there! This place always reminds me of Disneyland!

Father's Day Weekend

I might have also purchased a burger for Jason and surprised him with it! :)

That pretty much sums up our Father's Day Weekend in Texas! I loved spending time with my family (minus Jason) and can't wait to do it all over again! We are already planning our next trip! :)

How was your Father's Day Weekend? Did you do anything extra special?

Father's Day Weekend 2017

This past weekend was jam packed with family and fun times! I so appreciate weekends like this one and the fact that we have the opportunity to spend time with our families. Hug your peeps and spend time with them as often as you can!

Before the weekend began, I stopped by a brand new little juice-joint down the road from work. The options all sounded delicious and I couldn't decide which one to order.

My mom went with a peach smoothie and I had a blueberry one. I can't wait to return to try something else!

We also spent a little time with my long-time friend Jane and her sweet little girl!

Brayden and her little girl are only 6 weeks apart and so adorable together! It's been fun to watch them grow! Their fist picture together was at the 4th of July last year!

Precious.

On Saturday morning, we had breakfast with Jason's family and we had so much fun! It was great having everyone together to celebrate the special men in our lives!

After leaving Jason's parent's home, we went straight to my parent's house for a crawfish boil!

His outfit worked for the occasion! :)

Until Saturday, we hadn't eaten crawfish this year, so this was fun!

This seems to be our yearly tradition - as we've done a crawfish boil each summer for the past several years!

Delicious!

My brother and sister-in-law brought a Cookie Cake for my dad and Jason! That cookie cake was DEVOURED and didn't last long!

A few of my favorite dads!

Brayden also had his first taste of cookie cake and he was smitten!

He kept asking for more! Hah!

After dessert, we played a few games including "Say Anything" and "The Game of Things"! These are always fun, especially with my crazy family!

Last but not least, I have to show you my  new outfit! So, Kohls posted an adorable outfit on their Insta story last week and I loved it so much, I decided to try and hunt it down. It didn't take long for me to find both the top, bottom, and shoes in store...and I had a bonus 20% off coupon! I was so excited! Since Brayden was born, I haven't purchased many new outfits for myself, so this was a fun little splurge! Thanks, Kohls....this is proof that advertising works! :)

I hope you all had a great Father's Day Weekend! How was yours spent?

Father's Day Weekend 2016

I hope everyone had a great Father's Day Weekend this past weekend! We sure did here!

Although my husband had to work nights this past weekend, we still made the best of our time together and enjoyed celebrating his first Father's Day as a family!

The not so fun part of our weekend consisted of a funeral for my husband's Great Aunt. On Friday night, my parents and I went to the funeral home for the visitation then stopped by a local favorite restaurant for pizza.

Delicious as always!

Saturday morning brought around the funeral and although Jason was working nights, he still made time to attend. His Great Aunt was a missionary to Africa for YEARS and the part of the funeral that got me was when they talked about her reunion in heaven with all of the lives she touched. They also played a video slide show of pictures of her and her time in Africa set to the song "Thank You" by Ray Boltz. I. Balled.

After the funeral, we stopped by McAlisters for a quick bite to eat. I was told last night that the McAlisters in my town officially closed their doors...like permanently. If that's true, I'm SO glad we went on Saturday! I will also be incredibly sad if it really is true....

Brayden and I enjoyed some play time on Saturday afternoon after Jason left for work. He's such a happy baby most of the time and really is a joy to be with!

I also put the finishing touches on my dad and father in law's Father's Day gifts! I found this idea through a blog I follow and knew I HAD to use it for Father's Day!

They both loved their gifts, by the way! :)

On Sunday, Brayden and I attended church and had lunch at Izzos with my dad afterwards. (He chose!)

We are so blessed to have so many loving and caring family members in our lives! By the way, check out Brayden's outfit. I just love it!

After returning home, Jason opened his Father's Day gifts! I bought him and Brayden McNeese gear so they could match! :) My husband and I, my parents, my brother, Jason's sister/brother-in-law, etc are all McNeese alumni, so the roots run deep!

Oh yes, he also received his first set of Sperry's for Father's day so now we all match! Fun times!

I ran the second part of the runDisney Virtual Running Shorts series on Friday - I'll have a separate post dedicated to that run sometime this week! Saturday morning also consisted of a long run with my running buddy!

I hope you all had a great weekend and enjoyed spending it with your family! Happy Father's Day to all the amazing dads out there!

Father's Day Weekend

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend spent with their families. If you're one who lost your father or had to spend Father's Day without him, my heart goes out to you. This was my 2nd Father's Day without my grandfather and I missed him terribly. However, I did get to enjoy the day with Jason's side of the family! We made up a large group and enjoyed lunch together! After it was all said and done, Jason's mom realized she didn't take any pictures...neither did I. #bloggerfail

What I do have pictures of are other events that happened over the course of the weekend!

On Saturday morning, I ran 6 miles with my BRF Heather. Unfortunately, my watch died mid-run (which seems to keep happening lately because I keep forgetting to plug it in).

We enjoyed the run but it was SO humid and warm out, even at 6:30 a.m.! By the time we finished, I was DRENCHED.

After the run, I stopped for my yearly donut run. You see, I love donuts but don't allow myself to have them but about once or twice a year. Patients sometimes bring donuts to us at work, but that hasn't happened in a long time....so I had my own "donut saturday"! :D

For the record, I only deserve a donut after completing a marathon. :) I ate these because I wanted to. Hah!

The puppies enjoyed a donut hole, too! :) Rotten little beggars!

I didn't stop there....after donuts, I spent a few hours outside and pulled weeds in the flower beds. I also made a new froggie friend. Isn't he cute?

Late morning was spent tidying the house up a bit because we had a bridal party workday for an upcoming wedding, which lasted the remainder of the afternoon.

In the middle of all of that, I also made cookies for Father's Day per my Father In Law's request. :)

In total, my FitBit step count was at 19,600. That's the highest it's been in a while!

Completely off subject, I am LOVING this coffee creamer! SO tasty!!

Last but not least, I face timed with my dad and mom a bit which was fun! Even though I didn't get to spend Father's Day with him, I was still able to say hello and wish him a good day!

Our church also complied a special video for Father's Day which turned out incredibly cute!  You might even see a familiar face or two in there! :)

How was your weekend? Any fun festivities/races/training runs?
