June Calendar Shot

Happy June! It's almost "officially" summer here, although the temps have felt like summer for several weeks now! For today's Wordless Wednesday, I decided to share a few pictures from some of my favorite resorts!

Today’s Wordless Wednesday theme is:

Did you also know that today is National Running Day?  It's no secret that one of my favorite things to do at Disney is run, even on non-runDisney race weekends! New Balance sponsors running trails through all Disney resorts and they are so much fun to explore. If you're looking for a running or walking option while on your next Disney vacation, be sure to check out the trails!

Christmas Fitness Favorites Take 2

Christmas Fitness Favorites Title

Last year, I shared several of the fitness/running specific gifts I received for Christmas. Well, Santa was good to me yet again….and I received several items that will assist with training for my upcoming half marathons (and might help some of you), so I decided to share with all of you! Here they are….

KT Tape
Christmas Fitness Favorites (10)

I’m relatively new to the KT Tape world, but I’m not new to IT Band injury. After wearing a neoprene knee sleeve for (what felt like) ever, I finally bit the bullet and tested out a roll of KT Tape this past fall. I can honestly say it makes a huge difference - I love the support the KT Tape gives to my knee. I also love that their website has a ton of at-home-self application videos to watch which makes it easier on the beginner. The fun colors are really nice, too! I’ve never tried the PRO tape (blue roll on the top), but I’m interested to do so!  Side note: I sure hope they bring back the Red polka dot Minnie KT Tape at the Princess Half Marathon Expo! I missed out on them at the Wine & Dine Expo because they sold out…whomp whomp.

Mizuno Wave Inspire
Christmas Fitness Favorites (6)

Ever since the Mezamashii project, I’ve been hooked. I love Mizuno’s and the Wave Inspire’s are my go-to shoe! You know when you find “the shoe”, the one that just clicks and everything feels right – you just know it was meant to be? That’s these shoes for me. I love the colors, too!

Lock Laces & GU
Christmas Fitness Favorites (11)
Somehow, Santa knew ALL my favorite GU flavors (ok, maybe it wasn’t Santa, but my sister in law is just as nice)! I’m a fan of GU with caffeine, so these are perfect! Lock Laces are a new thing for me – I’ve had a friend who used them but I’ve never owned a pair myself. I’m definitely interested to try them out! If you aren’t familiar, Lock Laces are shoe laces that basically always stay tied! Sounds pretty cool to me!

New Balance
Christmas Fitness Favorites (5)
Soooo, I kinda received these shoes at the Wine & Dine Expo, then they got wrapped and placed under the tree as soon as we arrived home…. :D I love these runDisney inspired New Balance shoes! They are only available at the runDisney race expos and I hear that New Balance is bringing this Cinderella style/pattern back for 2015! Also, stay tuned to New Balance’s website/social media for updates on the new additions to their current models!

Fitbit Aria
Christmas Fitness Favorites (7)Christmas Fitness Favorites (8)Christmas Fitness Favorites (9)

After receiving the Fitbit back in November as a gift, I knew right away that I also wanted the Aria (scale) to go along with it! This scale not only tells your weight and body fat percentage, it also recognizes up to 8 people in your household. My husband received a Fitbit One for Christmas, so he’s also synced to the Aria and it knows the difference between the two of us! Pretty neat, huh? I had a little bit of trouble setting it up, but once I got going, it was fine and all works well now! My poor dad – he thought I wrote down the Fitbit “Ana” and he couldn’t figure out what in the world I was talking about… lol Whoops!

Raw Threads
Christmas Fitness Favorites (4)
Christmas Fitness Favorites

Santa hooked me up with Raw Threads this year! I absolutely LOVE these shirts and actually, I gave them as gifts to several (at least three different) friends for Christmas! (The shirts given as gifts are not pictured here.) Princess in Training, Snow, Minnie Bow, and Castle to Castle…I definitely can’t choose a favorite, I love them all! These shirts are made of a soft bamboo and organic cotton which fit incredibly well and are oh so comfortable! I’ve also worn these to run in and they are great! I love the Raw Threads “Disney”/race themed shirts and am so happy to add these to my collection! If you’re interested, check them out – their huge sale ends on 12/31/14!

As you can see, I now have several items to add to my running collection and I can’t wait to test them all out!

Did you receive any fitness related items for Christmas this year? Please share, I want to hear all about them!! :)

Congratulations to Mindy, winner of the FitMas Week 4 giveaway (the Flip Belt)! Please send your info to kren2700@gmail.com and I’ll get it to them asap! :)

Things I’m Looking Forward To: Princess Half Marathon Weekend

As mentioned on Monday, I spent a good portion of my weekend planning our upcoming Princess Half Marathon trip. I am SO excited for this trip, I am counting down the days…on a daily basis!

My parents are coming along with us and this will be our first time to travel on vacation together since our Alaskan cruise during the Fall of 2011. We have a lot of fun with my parents – we are all big goofballs and kids at heart so we work well together.

Our dinner reservations for the trip are booked and so are most of our Fastpasses. Only problem I’ve run into is this (can anyone help me?)….my mom/dad and Jason/I have two separate reservations. I cannot for the life of me make the fastpass + times correspond with each other for both reservations. I worked on it until midnight last night and became frustrated so I quit. Any suggestions or advice?

Anyway, back to Princess…

Things I’m looking forward to:

2014 Princess Half Marathon Medals
Source

  • Having all three of these medals around my neck – I’m going for the Glass Slipper Challenge! I cannot wait!
  • My husband is seriously considering run/walking the 5K with a friend of his. To say I’m shocked is the least. He told me about his decision last night while we were driving to dinner and I screamed so loud I’m surprised the person in the car next to us didn’t hear me. Those are words that just don’t come out of my husband’s mouth!!
  • I would be interested in running the 5K as well, but if there’s a meet up and if I get in, I really want to go to that instead – I know Marathon Weekend didn’t have one and Tink’s hasn’t been announced…so I don’t know what to do. Decisions, decisions. What would you guys do in this situation? Would you register for the 5K anyway, then choose the meet up if the opportunity arose/if you got in?

  • Expo shopping! I’m aiming for a Dooney (if they have one) and a pair of the beautiful new Cinderella New Balance shoes. I love the pink/black ones as well but they remind me a lot of my red/black Minnie shoes…so I think I’m going to go blue this time!

Princess Half Marathon Finish Line Mickey
(Uhhh…don’t pay attention to our time, lets just say we had a lot of fun while running Princess 2012.) :0)

Goofy Challenge 2013

  • Catching up with friends – it’s going to be a great weekend!
  • I also cannot wait to reunite with blogging friends and meet new ones! I hope to see many of you guys there!

  • Last but not least, I cannot wait to actually run the Princess 10K and the Half Marathon. I love love love Disney races and Princess is a favorite of mine. There’s nothing like a Disney race – the course, the entertainment, it’s one of the most magical experiences I’ve ever been a part of! :0)

Will I see you at Princess? If so, which race/races are you running?

2013 Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend Expo

Even though my “racecation” week began on Monday prior to the Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend, I’m going to begin my recap with the Disneyland Half Marathon Expo and go from there…stick with me, I have lots of fun things to share!

Friday, August 30, 2o13 – Disneyland Half Marathon Expo

Words could not describe how happy I was to see Friday morning’s race weekend ticker on runDisney’s website.

Disneyland Half Marathon Expo 12

Finally….at long last!

Our plans for Friday morning began early – start at California Adventure for Extra Magic Hours at 8 a.m., then meet up with friends for the Expo at 9 a.m. Per Twitter, I read that the line for the Expo was growing long, and it was only 8:30 a.m. I sent out a tweet to my group of friends who were supposed to meet up (Lisa, Lisa, & Jen) to see what they wanted to do…we then decided to change plans and meet up in line at the Expo instead. Since Lisa was from Canada and unable to receive tweets, Jason and I decided to swing by the meeting spot on our way out of California Adventure. Sure enough, Lisa was there waiting…and as I approached, said hi, shared hugs, the usual…she said, “I just saw Joey Fatone and Sean Astin walk by!”

Ummm…rewind…ok….what?!

We began walking and sure enough, she was right! It WAS Joey Fatone and Sean Astin!

I couldn’t miss my opportunity, so I walked right up and asked if I could take a picture with him! (I’m a huge NSYNC nerd, what can I say?)

Joey Fatone runDisney

Lisa was also happy because she stopped Sean for a picture! GREAT way to begin a runDisney weekend if I do say so myself!

As we approached the Disneyland Hotel we couldn’t help but notice the GIANT crowd of people lining the sidewalk outside the resort. We were told there were two lines – one to get into the expo itself (merchandise area) and one to get race numbers. I tweeted my other friends a few times but was unable to locate them because of the massive amounts of people around. Instead, we jumped in the Expo merch line and waited. At exactly 10 a.m., the doors to the Expo opened and the merchandise area was flooded with people. I didn’t have time to take pictures because we were busy grabbing anything and everything we liked in our size. Shirts were flying, people were all over the place…needless to say, it was quite the event.

My husband was such a good sport. He helped us decide which items to buy, then he held all of our merchandise and stayed in line so we could look through the floor items again to make sure we didn’t miss anything!

Thankfully, our wait in line to purchase our merchandise was not as long as others…I heard reports of some waiting in line for 2+ hours to check out! I also heard that they closed the merchandise area for 1 hour to let the line die down . I’m glad we were out of there by that point! One thing I did mention to my husband – Disney is a master at forming lines. After the merchandise line wound out of the designated area and into the hallway, a CM came by with tape and marked out an additional line, which then wound through the hallway, the staging area, and out into the corridor.

This is only one portion of the line. Cray cray.

After making our purchases, we took a few pictures and said our goodbyes.

Disneyland Half Marathon Expo 2

Lisa helped make a crazy experience much more enjoyable and I really had fun hanging out with her! She was a huge help in deciding what to buy, too. Yay for new twitter friends!

Disneyland Half Marathon Expo 3

Hello Dumbo! :0)

Disneyland Half Marathon Expo 7

Thankfully, the Expo floor was not near as crowded as the runDisney merchandise area.

While walking through the Expo area, I heard my name and as I looked up, I saw the lovely ladies of We Run Disney!!

Disneyland Half Marathon Expo 5

I’m excited I was able to meet them! They even had a birthday gift for me…so sweet!

I saw that they were talking to someone in the KT Tape line and realized that I knew her too….

Disneyland Half Marathon Expo 6

Jen!! We were texting several times throughout the day and weren’t able to meet up in prior to the Expo – so glad I ran into her there!

As we were talking, someone else came up and said that they wanted us to know they read our blogs and really enjoyed following us! It was so nice of her to say, but I’m sad I never got her name! If you are reading this, let me know who you are…and thanks for saying hi! That was really sweet of you! :0)

I ran into so many others at the Expo…Heather (who’s husband was stuck in a super long line for merchandise), Fred, Crystal & Jaclyn (two Disney Bride friends), Emily (who I continued running into over and over again that day)…I saw so many faces, I’m sorry if I left you out!

After saying our goodbyes, Jason and I headed over to the packet pickup area. Thankfully, my race bib line wasn’t long…yay!

Disneyland Half Marathon Expo 10 Disneyland Half Marathon Expo 11

Once I received my race bib, I had to go back into the Expo floor to pick up my race shirts/bag.

Unfortunately, I didn’t pay attention to sizing and I ordered a Medium (unisex). Whoops. Ah well…lesson learned!  However, I heard a rumor that women’s fit will be offered at upcoming races. We’ll see if that’s really true!

Disneyland Half Marathon Expo Gear 2

After wandering around the Expo, I stopped by the New Balance booth to try my chances on snagging a pair of runDisney Women’s New Balance shoes. Of course, I knew my chances were slim as it was in my original plan to stop by this booth first – but after seeing the madhouse on the runDisney Merchandise floor, I decided to forego my original plan as you saw above.

Guess what? I was in luck! At 12:30 (the expo opened at 10 a.m.), New Balance still had a pair of Women’s size 8.5 runDisney shoes! Not only did I get to meet Joey Fatone earlier that morning, I also snagged a pair of runDisney shoes, too! It was my lucky day!

We stayed at the Expo until 1 p.m. and decided it was time to go back to the parks for lunch. After leaving, we dropped off our goodies in our room, then made a bee-line for California Adventure!

Disneyland Half Marathon Expo Gear

…but not before taking a picture of my new gear, first!

Sportin my knew kicks…on route 66!

So much more happened this day, but I don’t want to overwhelm this post, so I’ll save the rest for another time.

In the meantime, check out the Vlog I made of our experience at the Disneyland Half Marathon Expo and California Adventure!

What did you think? Were you at the Expo? Did you snag the gear you were hoping for?
