Halloween 2017

Happy November and happy belated Halloween! We've had a BLAST celebrating this year with our toddler and even though he didn't exactly know what was going on, he's had fun too!

If you follow my Instagram stories, you know that Brayden went to Mother's Day Out yesterday for a "princess/super hero/pizza party".

Well, as I dropped him off, I realized that I hadn't even THOUGHT about goodie bags for the kids! Oh no. I joked on Instagram that it was a "mom fail" but I definitely know there are worse things in life! Anyway, I made a run to Target on my lunch break and somehow managed to find enough toddler friendly goodies to put this together...

Whew. Crisis averted.

I really really really enjoy doing things like this and was kinda sad I didn't even think about it! I am even more excited about Christmas now!! :)

He came home with a rather large haul, too! For an 8 kid class, I'd say he did pretty darn well!

This week we've also made a couple of trips to local church festivities which included a few trunk or treats!

Sunday was incredibly cold, so his overstuffed Mickey costume that would normally be waaaay too warm for our weather worked out perfectly!

We met up with our friends and had a blast!

Brayden very quickly picked up on the concept of taking a "treat" and putting it in his bag. It was so cute!

He also had fun with the games but didn't quite understand the concept of playing each game just one time and moving on, especially if it was a fun game!

My friends were dressed as Mike, Sully, and Boo from Monsters Inc. Adorable!

Halloween night here was a bit different as the weather was warm and humid. I had a "back up" costume just for that instance and it worked out great!

Ride like the wind, Bullseye!

I'm sure you'll notice that neither costume included a hat on his head. Well, ever since the summer, he's decided to boycott hats completely. Instead of trying to make it work, we just let it be and I ended up pinning his cowboy hat on the back of his shirt.

We attended another community event last night and he again had fun playing all the games. Since he now knows that he's picking candy out of a tub, he started handing them to me to open instead of putting them in his bag. So funny!

Watch out, Astros...your future relief pitcher is up and coming...

My friend Kim was there with her nieces and nephews so we got to say hi for a minute or two!

My parents also joined us and we had a blast!

Remember what I said about the hat?

AFTER it was all said and done, this little turkey decided hats were ok...and he wore it for the entirety of dinner, too!!

Apart from our dress up events, we also visited the pumpkin patch a few times!

Just because he had so much fun the first time, we went again on Monday afternoon after work!

Enough with the pictures already, mom!!

Well, that about sums up Brayden's second Halloween! If we had this much fun with him this year, I can't wait to see what Christmas has in store!

How was your Halloween? Did you dress up? Hand out candy? Trick or treat? Kids dress up?

Fall Décor 2014

Fall is well underway and cooler weather has slowly introduced itself to Southwest Louisiana (finally)!  I spent some time decorating my home for fall this year, so here’s a peek at the way we like to celebrate the fall season in my neck of the woods!

Fall Home Decor

This front door wreath is one of my favorite additions to my fall collection! It was super easy to make – here’s a step by step tutorial if you’re interested!

Gotta have Disney accents! :)

Fall Home Decor (6)

At the front entry way, I swapped plain tea lights in the wall scones for orange ones. I also added a Halloween frame with a photo from 2013’s Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, a fall candle, and a decorative bird.

Our dining room table has several new touches including decorative pumpkins and gourds in glass vases.

The napkins, napkin rings, and table runner are from Bed, Bath, & Beyond, purchased last fall.

Another swap – these two wall scones held candles until recently! I purchased small glitter pumpkins from Michaels and put them in place of the candles.

Another new addition is the pumpkins on the fireplace. Purchased from Hobby Lobby this year.

Fall Home Decor (11)

My absolute favorite piece is Cinderella’s carriage. Also purchased from Hobby Lobby several years ago.

Hi Mickey! :) The scarecrow to the right was given to me by my grandfather after my grandmother passed away.

These frames are from Pets Mart - we took Pixie to the Howl-o-ween costume contest several times.

Kitchen décor! I love fall scents, so several Bath & Body Works wallflower plug ins can be found throughout my home. This one is my favorite because it also serves as a night light!

There you have it, the majority of the fall touches scattered throughout my home. Thanks for stopping by! Hope you have a great day!

Do you decorate for fall? If so, what’s your favorite fall décor item?

Friday Favorites: Pumpkins

Hi there! Happy Friday! Are you tired of my crafty, DIY posts yet? :) Well, this should be my last one for a while (for the fall at least).

As you know, Friday’s are usually the days where I recap my week of workouts. Unfortunately, I was feeling really gross on Monday and Tuesday and decided to take unplanned rest days. So here’s my “Fitness Friday” – I ran 12 miles on Saturday with a  friend and did a cross-training workout one time this week. Blech. It’s not been a good week, friends.

So, instead of re-harping on all of that, I’m going to share my crafty-fall project I worked on over the weekend! :D

Disney Pumpkins

These guys. I’ve owned these plastic light up pumpkins for a long time now – at least seven  years. They were so faded from the sun, I was embarrassed to put them on display. Last week, I had the idea of re-painting them with spray paint….and if it didn’t work, I figured it wouldn’t really hurt anything or make anything worse than it already was.

Originally, the Tinkerbell pumpkin was light orange in color and the Pooh Bear pumpkin was bright orange in color.

After a little thought and deliberation, I decided to make Pooh Bear bright orange once again, but changed Tinkerbell to a cream color.

I taped the stems of each pumpkin with painters tape, although Tinkerbell’s green stem was wearing off anyway. I need to purchase some green paint next!

Disney Pumpkins 2

Voila! They both turned out great and look 10,000 times better than they looked before!

For added measure, here’s the other two pumpkins that grace my front porch! :)

Pumpkins

Does anyone else become as excited about Fall as I do? The colors, a chill in the air – cooler running weather, leaves changing, the promise of Christmas on the horizon…I absolutely love Fall.

Despite a lack of “chill” in the air here in Southwest Louisiana (which probably won’t arrive until late October/early November), I decided to decorate anyway. Even though we don’t actually celebrate ghosts/goblins/witches/etc. in our house, I love pumpkins…especially Mickey pumpkins!
