Weekend Fun!

Hello and happy Monday! This weekend was a busy but fun one and I really enjoyed spending time with my little boy! :)

On Friday night, we attended a going away party for one of Jason's cousins. They are moving overseas for several years and had a "bon voyage" party to say goodbye!

The sunset was gorgeous, too!

I also spent time with my running buddy Heather for her birthday!

We had sushi and I ordered fried rice because I wasn't sure what I could and couldn't chew (#mouthtroubles).

With the leftovers, I managed to make three meals out of that fried rice!

What's a birthday without cake (cupcakes)?!

Even though my husband worked the weekend, I still managed to get my long run done! Our running group didn't meet on Saturday, so Heather and I decided to try a new running group in town. A new running store recently opened, so we met up with their group and enjoyed a six mile run. It was HOT and we got started a bit later than we like but we know better for next time! Even though our running group didn't officially meet, a few runners from the group graciously set water and Gatorade coolers around the area! It was really nice, especially when we weren't expecting it at all!

I am incredibly grateful for my friend Kim who offered to watch Brayden while I ran!

On my way home, I stopped by Starbucks to grab a to-go breakfast for both Kim and I. :) I always order an iced non-fat caramel macchiato and when I got to the window to pick it up, it was in a "hot" cup. I guess the girl saw the look of disappointment on my face because she asked what was wrong. I told her it was all my fault and I meant to order it iced....whoops. Even though I said it was totally my fault, she took the drink back from me, said "no biggie", then made an iced version instead! It was SO very nice and much appreciated...especially since I was so hot after the run!

This clip on (and portable) mobile is GENIUS! It attaches to anything and Brayden loves it! Win/win!

On Saturday afternoon, my mom and I attended a wedding shower for one of my cousins. Her theme was "fiesta" and included quesadillas and a taco bar with all the toppings! YUM!

Y'all....this sleeper came from Target and it was on clearance for super cheap! I do love a good bargain! :)

On Sunday morning, I made Mickey waffles out of banana nut bread mix. Did you know you can add just a little extra water to the box mix and use it in a waffle iron? They were delicious!

After church, we had lunch at Newks with my parents. The margherita pizza reminded me of the pizza on board the Disney Cruise Line in Palo. I also had a bowl of their squash soup which sort of reminded me of butternut squash soup on DCL. Newks squash soup had a bit more cinnamon flavor to it, though.

Hey....look over there! :D

We had a fun weekend and once again, it flew by way too fast! Here's to another fun week ahead! Hope you have a great Monday!! :)

How was your weekend?

Fitness Friday–May 10

Happy Friday, friends! I’m especially happy today, as my grandfather was released from the hospital yesterday afternoon! THANK YOU ALL so much for the prayers! He appreciates them and so does my family. Over the past few weeks, I told him several times how many friends were praying for him and he was so grateful, he asked me to thank you guys! He’s now in a Skilled Nursing facility (we found one that is not connected to a nursing home…which seemed to satisfy him) while he regains his strength. The adjustment will be hard for him as he could be in this facility up to a few months. He’s not thrilled about it and was having a hard time yesterday afternoon, but I know he will make the adjustment in time.

A recap of my week:

Saturday – 6.5 mile bike ride with a few running friends – they ran, I biked. Still taking it easy on my ITBand
Sunday
– Rest Day – Saturday night, I woke up at 11 p.m. with the stomach bug. It was awful. I was awakened again at 2 a.m. with severe nausea and dry heaving. YUCK. Needless to say, I stayed home from church and attempted to rest all day.
Monday – Rest Day, recuperating from the bug! Ugh.
Tuesday
– No Workout, still didn’t feel 100%.
Wednesday – Jillian Michaels Shred it with Weights – Kettlebell Level 2
Thursday – No Workout
Friday – Biggest Loser Power X-Train and Ab Blast x 35 minutes before work

This past week, I changed up my breakfast routine a bit. Instead of my usual egg whites and turkey bacon, I decided to drink green smoothies instead!

Yesterday, my smoothie consisted of pineapple, mango, banana, almond milk, and spinach. I also had a strawberry, blueberry, almond, almond milk, and spinach smoothie earlier in the week. Smoothies are definitely a favorite of mine, especially as the temperature outside is heating up for summer! I see a lot of green smoothies in my future!

Last night, I met up with my running pals for sushi night! It was long overdue and we had a great time catching up!

On Tuesday, I enjoyed a little frozen yogurt from Orange Leaf…for free! They were so nice and gave nurses a free 8 oz cup of froyo! Yum!

I’m SO excited for a fun weekend ahead! We have tickets to see Wicked in New Orleans on Friday night. Jason surprised me with Wicked tickets for our anniversary and I cannot wait! We also get to hang out with these guys for the weekend! I see lots of laughter, yummy food, and fun stories ahead!

What do you have planned for the weekend? Hope you have a great one!

A Little Bit Of This, A Little Bit Of That…

I was flipping through pictures on my phone and realized that I had a REALLY fun weekend and needed to share. Besides the Brooks Cavalcade at the local running store and breakfast with my friends, I also had really fun times with my husband! :0)

On Saturday night, we decided to try out a local sushi bar. I’ve been before (with my friends at Christmas time), but Jason’s never been…no time like the present, right?

I had a Rock n Roll and a Disney Roll. I had to laugh because those were my two major races this year…and I might have ordered them on purpose, but that’s ok. I’m a nerd like that! :0)

My husband had a combination platter which included three different types of rolls: Rock n Roll, California Roll, and Shrimp Tempura.

Unfortunately, he was not as impressed by the sushi as I was.

…and he proceeded to play with his chopsticks. Can’t take him anywhere!

We did like how the decorative pieces were added to the plates! They made a ginger root slices into a rose and a leaf out of wasabi!

We also laughed because one of Jason’s Shrimp Tempura’s was growing a tree!

After sushi, we stopped by Marble Slab. We are usually a FroYo kind of couple, but a Marble Slab Cookies and Cream shake sounded SO good…we couldn’t pass up our opportunity!

On Sunday, my husband and dad took a class out of town and my mom had to work, so I was left to myself for church! After church, I stopped by McAlister's for lunch where I studied the script for our upcoming Easter Production. I play the part of a waitress which is odd for me because I’ve never been a waitress before…but I’ll get the hang of it!

Here’s our cast working on our production, “Life, Death, and Two Strips of Bacon”. Sounds interesting, right? It is, trust me!

I also started the process of weeding my flower beds. I began on Sunday afternoon and didn’t finish until Wednesday afternoon. In all, it took about 6 hours to complete the process. Ugh I hate weeds.

Here’s a shot before weeding:

It doesn’t look really bad in the pictures, but there were millions of really tiny green sprouts, along with clover. If I never seen clover again in my life, I will be just fine!

Stay tuned for the finished product, hopefully adding a few new additions! :0)

This week has been a super busy one!

IMG_3355

I’ve had meetings all week and today doesn’t look any better! I hope I can tell if I’m coming or going! We’ll see if I make it out alive!

In other news, I received a few fun packages in the mail this week! We all know how much I love the Biggest Loser – well, I follow Courtney from Season 11 on Twitter and I won a giveaway she was hosting! I’m looking forward to trying out this DVD and the recipes look delicious!

I also noticed that my shoes were on closeout at Running Warehouse (you know, the ones that Mizuno stopped making and I’m super bummed about?) , so I ordered a pair even though I won’t need them for a long while! I couldn’t pass up the great deal!

IMG_3363

I must have a million of these bags/decals because I get one every time I order a new pair of shoes! Love them!!

I think that about sums it up! :0) Hope everyone has a fabulous Thursday! It’s almost the weekend! Yay!

Are you a Sushi fan? What’s your favorite roll?

Do you order new running shoes when they are on sale, even if you won’t need them for a while?
