How Christmas Saved The Grinch 2018

Can you believe there's just a week and a few days until Christmas? I definitely cannot! It's crazy how fast this past year has flown by. I say it every year, but it's true!

Last weekend, my church put on their annual Christmas production entitled "How Christmas Saved The Grinch" and I was lucky enough to be a part! Last year, I told the director that I was willing to do "whatever", so I became an extra and after 15 weeks of practice, it was time for production weekend!

I honestly never realized just how much went into the behind the scenes roles of making this production come together, but it's quite a bit of work! Not only were most of the costumes hand sewn and the sets made from scratch, but on the day of the production, the noses had to be put on 8 actors and hair and makeup had to be done for 18+ actors which took several hours to complete!

This production is the sweetest - it tells the story of The Grinch who hates Christmas. He meets Cindy-Lou who introduces him to Jesus and...well, after his encounter with Jesus, his heart grew three sizes that day!

On Friday, we performed two shows for the schools (it's an approved field trip in our parish) with over 3,000 kids in attendance. The on Sunday, we performed two additional shows for the public with almost 2,000 in attendance! I'd call it a hit!

For the past four years, we've taken this picture together, and it's fun to see how Brayden (and we) have changed over the years! I was pregnant in our very first picture in 2015!

As a huge surprise, Brayden actually sat for a few seconds to take a picture with The Grinch! I couldn't hardly believe it myself!

After it was all said and done on Friday, we celebrated with shakes from Chick Fil A! Mine was (of course) a peppermint shake! Yum!

Thanks for following along! I hope you're having a wonderful Christmas season! Have a great weekend!! :)

Christmas Festivities and FitMas Week #3 Giveaway

This weekend flew by so fast – I feel like it’s still Friday…or Saturday morning at least!  Sadly no, it’s Monday morning and Christmas is one day closer to being here. I feel like this time of year flies by SO fast and I don’t ever want Christmas to get here because that means it will be over just like that. Sad times. Ok now that I got super Debbie Downer on y’all, here’s a few snapshots of my weekend:

Christmas Production (2)

It all began at Bath & Body Works and their $8 candle sale! Did anyone else catch that one? I was super excited and purchased several for white elephant gifts!

Christmas Production (3)

Christmas present delivery (Madalynn for scale)!

Christmas Production (5)

My hometown recently reopened a Dairy Queen (we haven’t had one in at least 8 years) and the lines to get in have been INSANE. On Friday night, we noticed that the parking lot wasn’t overflowing so we attempted a visit. Y’all, people are cray. When I say it’s been INSANE, I mean that people have waited in line over an hour just to place an order. INSANE.

Christmas Production (6)

I had their Christmas peppermint blizzard. It was super delicious!!

Christmas Production (7)

On Saturday morning, I had a great 6 mile run with my BRF followed by a 2 mile run (mainly chasing squirrels) back home with Madalynn!

Christmas Production (10)

After the run, I helped my friend Mackenzie celebrate her birthday!

Christmas Production (12)

We had so much fun playing games, especially Quelf!

Christmas Production (13)

My poor brother in law had to wear this on his forehead the rest of the game (and yes, that’s Jesus in the background…lol).

Christmas Production (14)

After the party, we took our girls to Petco to meet Santa. Petco donated 100% of the proceeds from these photos to help with homeless pets which I thought was really awesome of them!

Christmas Production (15)

On top of everything else, our church Christmas production was this weekend. Thursday night, Friday night, Saturday night, Sunday morning, and Sunday night were all filled with rehearsals and productions.

Christmas Production (18)

This is how we all felt by the end of Sunday night. Hah! We might have stayed up WAY too late on Saturday night watching my wedding video…

Christmas Production

The production went over super well. I love the look of the opening “market” scene!

Christmas Production (19)

Friends! :)

Christmas Production (20)

During the opening scene, I walked around selling fruit and this “Roman Guard” stole a piece from me! Shame shame…

Christmas Production (22)

My BFF and her family came out to show their support, too! It was awesome having them there! Her son had a shot at stealing a piece of fruit, too… haha!

Despite the business of it all, I really enjoyed my weekend and spending time with my friends. Now, I need a nap! Goodnight! Smile

A Day In My Life

What a day I had yesterday! Seems as if every single moment after lunch was jam packed with meetings and other fun things!

Instead of telling you about my day, I decided to show you! I hope you enjoy this short vlog of a day in my life! :0)

A Day In My Life :0)

Our production is definitely a work in progress. It’s coming along even though it’s a very slow process, I know our production nights are going to be great!

IMG_3397

We are SO blessed with lots of talent at our church…one of our cast mates created this entire set and did an amazing job! Our theme is set around a diner, so our whole set has a very diner-ish feel! I’m really looking forward to the finished product!

Thanks for following along with my day! Believe it or not, I was on time for everything except production rehearsal…I was about 5 minutes late to that. Overall, yesterday was not as bad as I thought it would be…I got everything accomplished on my list! Yay!

Hope you enjoyed the vlog! :0)

How do you handle busy days? Do you ever have a day that’s full of meetings?

A Little Bit Of This, A Little Bit Of That…

I was flipping through pictures on my phone and realized that I had a REALLY fun weekend and needed to share. Besides the Brooks Cavalcade at the local running store and breakfast with my friends, I also had really fun times with my husband! :0)

On Saturday night, we decided to try out a local sushi bar. I’ve been before (with my friends at Christmas time), but Jason’s never been…no time like the present, right?

IMG_3305

I had a Rock n Roll and a Disney Roll. I had to laugh because those were my two major races this year…and I might have ordered them on purpose, but that’s ok. I’m a nerd like that! :0)

IMG_3307

My husband had a combination platter which included three different types of rolls: Rock n Roll, California Roll, and Shrimp Tempura.

Unfortunately, he was not as impressed by the sushi as I was.

IMG_3310IMG_3311

…and he proceeded to play with his chopsticks. Can’t take him anywhere!

IMG_3309IMG_3308

We did like how the decorative pieces were added to the plates! They made a ginger root slices into a rose and a leaf out of wasabi!

We also laughed because one of Jason’s Shrimp Tempura’s was growing a tree!

IMG_3313

After sushi, we stopped by Marble Slab. We are usually a FroYo kind of couple, but a Marble Slab Cookies and Cream shake sounded SO good…we couldn’t pass up our opportunity!

IMG_3330

On Sunday, my husband and dad took a class out of town and my mom had to work, so I was left to myself for church! After church, I stopped by McAlister's for lunch where I studied the script for our upcoming Easter Production. I play the part of a waitress which is odd for me because I’ve never been a waitress before…but I’ll get the hang of it!

IMG_3337

Here’s our cast working on our production, “Life, Death, and Two Strips of Bacon”. Sounds interesting, right? It is, trust me!

I also started the process of weeding my flower beds. I began on Sunday afternoon and didn’t finish until Wednesday afternoon. In all, it took about 6 hours to complete the process. Ugh I hate weeds.

Here’s a shot before weeding:

IMG_3332IMG_3334

It doesn’t look really bad in the pictures, but there were millions of really tiny green sprouts, along with clover. If I never seen clover again in my life, I will be just fine!

Stay tuned for the finished product, hopefully adding a few new additions! :0)

This week has been a super busy one!

IMG_3355

I’ve had meetings all week and today doesn’t look any better! I hope I can tell if I’m coming or going! We’ll see if I make it out alive!

IMG_3344

In other news, I received a few fun packages in the mail this week! We all know how much I love the Biggest Loser – well, I follow Courtney from Season 11 on Twitter and I won a giveaway she was hosting! I’m looking forward to trying out this DVD and the recipes look delicious!

I also noticed that my shoes were on closeout at Running Warehouse (you know, the ones that Mizuno stopped making and I’m super bummed about?) , so I ordered a pair even though I won’t need them for a long while! I couldn’t pass up the great deal!

IMG_3363

I must have a million of these bags/decals because I get one every time I order a new pair of shoes! Love them!!

I think that about sums it up! :0) Hope everyone has a fabulous Thursday! It’s almost the weekend! Yay!

Are you a Sushi fan? What’s your favorite roll?

Do you order new running shoes when they are on sale, even if you won’t need them for a while?
