Global Running Day

Hi there friends and happy Tuesday!

Global Running Day

Off topic for a second (well, sort of)...if you missed it on instagram, I did something brand new (to me) yesterday. This was totally out of my comfort zone as I'm not one to just go forward into something alone, not knowing what's going on. Well, our Orangetheory is doing a soft opening this week, and since I joined back in March I knew I had to go check it all out!

Orangetheory

Y'all. I was slightly nervous but those nerves went away super fast. I walked in, there were lots of people milling around (most of them were alone and didn't know anyone, either), I was greeted with smiles and everyone was super helpful...and the workout was...AMAZING! That was seriously hands down one of the best workouts I've ever done. As they say, I drank the kool aid and I'm not looking back! :)

Global Running Day

SO, tomorrow is Global Running Day, where people all over the world take part in a run of some sort - any distance, any time of the day. It encourages everyone to get out and get moving! This is a great day for novice runners or beginners alike - you don't have to create a lofty goal, just get out and run!

Also, I've seen a lot of race organizations host extra special Global Running Day discounts for their race events, so keep an eye out for those! Rock n Roll is one who has hosted great specials in the past for sure!

A local running group is hosting a run tomorrow, but it always seems to fall on days when I have to bring Brayden. Six pm heat down here in Southwest Louisiana plus a toddler in a dark stroller do not get along well at all...oh well, maybe next time!

I don't have a solid plan for my run, but it will take place sometime tomorrow! :)

How are you celebrating Global Running Day? Have you ever tried Orangetheory and if so, what did you think?

  1. I have not tried Orange theory. I'm not really into those classes but it is probably something my sister would like.

Hope you have a good running day tomorrow. I'm going to try to run at some point too, hopefully.

    1. I am shocked that I had the desire to do it, to be honest. I’m not a person to do fitness classes but I love this one!

  2. I've done a group run for GRD before, but it's a Wednesday, dang it - hard to get people together before work (and like you, running in the evening here in Texas? too hot.)

I'll be interested to hear more about your Orange Theory experiences. They opened one up in our town a couple of months ago, but I don't know...we are a college town and I'm sure everyone there is 18 and rail thin and fit as can be, so it seems like it might not be a good fit for me.

    1. I had the same concern about Orangetheory! It wasn’t like that at all here for me though! People of all shapes and sizes and ages were in my two different classes.

  3. I haven't tried OTF yet but they're opening up all around here, although none really close enough to be convenient. Wendy and I are hosting a local GRD fun run tomorrow! Can't wait!

  4. It always seems to be on days I don't run. If I wasn't taking a break, Wednesdays are still days I don't run. I'll still get outside and enjoy the fresh air.

  5. I'm thinking I may celebrate by swimming, LOL,since it's a rest day for me.

There's an Orangetheory opening up pretty darn close to me in a couple of weeks.

  6. I haven't tried Orangetheory but everyone seems to love it - I'd love to check it out!

I'm on the fence as to whether I should run tomorrow...I'm having some foot pains and I'm still sore from running yesterday. But I'll definitely be keeping my eye on deals for races!

  7. No Orangetheory in my area, but I have heard great things from numerous bloggers/social media friends who are die-hards ;-)
