We also dressed up in character and had quite a few comments from other runners about our outfits!  Stay tuned to hear more about our wardrobe and the awesome race we ran yesterday! :0)

Can you tell who we are?  I’ll give you a hint!

“Batter up!  Hear that call!  The time has come, for one and all…”
and if this doesn’t give it away…
”Crying?!  There’s no crying in BASEBALL!”

I’m almost there! :0)

Well, it’s officially 14 hours until my fourth Half Marathon!  I’m at home waiting on my brother and sister in law to get here so we can leave for NOLA! :0)

I figured while I was waiting on them to arrive, I would update my blog!  Here’s a few pictures from last night’s Homecoming Parade! Our local college is playing their Homecoming game Saturday night!

msu1

Beautiful sunset!

msu2

My husband and I waiting on the parade!

msu3

Football players!

msu4 msu5

The theme was “Riding into a New Era”…I love the “Futuristic Rowdy”!!  He’s going to Infinity and Beyond! lol

msu6

They took the theme a little different way with a surfer guy!

msu7

They are playing the Kernels so hence…pop the Kernels! LOL

msu8

And this is a picture for my mom because yes…my mom…she was a Phi Mu! :0)

msu9

This cracked me up!

msu10

And I know this float isn’t very creative but I thought it was too funny!!!

msu11

All Jason wanted all night was Nerds!  :0)

msu12

Jane and I taking a break from picking up candy!

After the parade, we ate at a local Mexican restaurant, then went to visit our soon to be brother in law at Starbucks!  We had a great night!

Today, we had dress up day at work for Halloween! Our line of work can be VERY depressing so we like to have fun and let lose sometimes! :0)

 halloween1

Our crew!  Our boss on the left was Superman, the girl in purple was an LSU Tiger, I am in the middle and I was a Marathon runner (real original, huh?), the girl next to me was a McNeese Cowboy fan, and the guy on the far right is Luigi!

halloween2

“The Big Nerd” came late so we had to get a picture!  He is our Radiation Physicist!

halloween3

Here’s a crew again minus the LSU Tiger plus the Big Nerd! :0)

halloween4

These were the only guys that would “pose” with me! Haha!

The Doctor’s response to my outfit: “You mean to tell me you ran a Marathon and all you got was a DUCK medal?!?” I had to explain that it is DONALD Duck!  :0)  After that, he fussed at me for planning on running in Disney in January again cause I got SO sick this past January after running in the crazy cold weather!

Speaking of costumes…I’m running in one tomorrow!  It’s all runner friendly and I can’t wait to post pictures! I’m so excited about tomorrow’s Half Marathon!  It will be my sister-in-law Kayla’s first Half Marathon! I know she’s excited and I’m excited for her!!!

prerace

Besides updating my blog, I’m also watching The Princess and the Frog to get me in the NOLA mood, and I’m eating a little “pre race fuel”!  It’s a peanut butter and banana shake with Okios Greek Yogurt (it’s not chunky it has granola and almonds mixed in!) :0)

Pumpkins!

Fall is my 2nd favorite time of the year (2nd only to Christmas)!  I love the colors and the changing of the leaves…it’s simply beautiful!

By far, my favorite thing about this holiday is Pumpkins!  (and I especially love Mickey Pumpkins!)

giantmickeypumpkin

Speaking of Mickey pumpkins, that reminds me of Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party!  We attended the party both last year and this year as a part of my Disney Cruise and Half Marathon trip!

Since it’s coming up on Halloween time, I thought I’d share a few pictures from the party!

mnsshp

I really love this party and I think it’s one of the best times to go to Walt Disney World. It is of course, my 2nd favorite in line to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party! :0)  We were able to ride/see everything we wanted to in just a few hours due to short wait times for rides and shows!  It was awesome!

mnsshp4

We were able to spend the evening with a few friends and it was great!  We had SO much fun!  We ran around like little kids getting a TON of candy and really enjoying ourselves!  The parade was fabulous, too!!

mnsshp2

What’s an evening at Disney World without Fireworks? Hallowishes did not disappoint!  It was incredible as always! :0)

Ok so I was really skimpy on the pictures!  They are on my hard drive (on a different computer) and these are ones I stole off of facebook!

I went for a run earlier.  I tried to pace myself as I had a 4 mile run planned today!  Well, I don’t know what got into me…maybe the caffeine I had from Starbucks after work while visiting my sister in law/soon to be brother in law?  I ran the 4 miles and finished up in 38:10! I haven’t done that in forever…usually, i takes me at least 40 minutes…sometimes 42 or 45 minutes to do 4 miles depending on how many times I stop.  Ah well. I felt great and I really enjoyed my run today!  Lots of neighbors out and about with their kids/dogs. It was great!

I planned to do 3 miles tomorrow, then 2 miles Wednesday, rest Thursday and Friday, Half Marathon Saturday.  Not sure how my run will go tomorrow, though!  I have a calendar planning meeting at church tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. and it usually lasts a few hours.  I hope it won’t take too long but I have a feeling I’ll either have to stay in town tomorrow and run after work, or I’ll have to run the 3 miles on the treadmill after the meeting, OR…I’ll just skip the run altogether!  :0)  We’ll see what happens.  I hate how “life” gets in the way of running sometimes!

What is your favorite time of the year? :0)

Howl-O-Ween

Yesterday, Pets Mart held their annual Howl-O-Ween pet costume contest!  I’ve been taking Pixie the last four years, but this year, we decided to add Madalynn to the mix!

We adopted Madalynn last October from a local rescue organization and had gotten her only weeks before last year’s contest so we didn’t take her then.

So this year, we got our puppies all dressed up and headed over to Pets Mart!

Pixie went as Tinkerbell…get it? Pixie…Tinkerbell! lol

howl2

Madalynn went as Cinderella.  I bought this outfit last year, not realizing the reality of it….

howl1

Madalynn was rescued by a coworker of mine. She was found out in the middle of nowhere, all by herself, covered in ticks and fleas, eating whatever she could to survive.  My coworker took her home, gave her real food, a shelter, and got all of the ticks and fleas off of her.  She estimated that Madalynn had been out on her own for about a month.  She had to bathe her/flea comb her three times, then she spent hours picking dead fleas off of Madalynn.  How or why people dump dogs is just amazing to me.  They are such helpless animals and it takes a VERY cold hearted individual to just dump a sweet and helpless animal all alone on the side of the road.  It’s terrible and very inhumane.  I’m getting off my soapbox now.

Thankfully, there’s VERY generous people out in this world like my coworker who takes pity on animals like this and saves them.  She volunteers for a local rescue organization and helps many animals who are lost/abandoned get adopted and into good homes.

Anyway, Madalynn is our very own Cinderella!  :0) howl3

They look scared out of their minds here! Hah!  We were waiting on the judging. Madalynn did SO good…she was so calm and cute the entire time!  Pixie on the other hand was wild and hyper and all over the place!  Haha!

After the judging was over….drumroll, please…………

Back home, sitting together…which they didn’t like much!  Haha!

Madalynn very proud of her 1st place certificate!!

As far as running goes, I have a half marathon this weekend!  I did my last long run on Saturday and as far as the week goes, I’ll run 4 miles on Monday, 3 miles on Tuesday, and 2 miles on Wednesday!   The half marathon is Saturday and I’m SO excited!!!!!! :0)

Promenade Run and Rangers

Last night, my husband surprised me with flowers, a movie, dinner, and a walk around my town’s new promenade area!  It was so nice I decided to get pictures of it in the daylight to show you today! :0)

Our running group meets not far from here and sometimes our route takes us down this way.  Today it did not, but I had 2 miles left to run after my friends left so I decided to run them along the promenade!

I thought this was SO neat!  We somehow obtained two beams from the Twin Towers and they have a memorial set up for the lives lost that day!

 IMG_1219

LOL These are not “wee wee” fun!!!  Hahah

  IMG_1222

After the seminar, I went home and started throwing junk away out of my running bag. I came across this …. I received a free sample in the mail a while back and I had a feeling it got squished along the way…well, not only was it squished, it was congealed.

IMG_1223

Eww. Gross. I threw it away! lol

Besides the run today, I cleaned house, took a nap, bathed the dogs, took them to a Halloween costume contest (I’ll have pictures of that, too!), folded clothes…my day didn’t stop!!  Hopefully tomorrow will be more relaxing!

Other exciting news…YAY RANGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

rangers3

I was so excited for the Rangers to win the ALCS and move onto the World Series!  I grew up loving Texas teams. My first love, the Astros. My second love, the Rangers.  I’ve gone to quite a few games at the Ballpark in Arlington (I have family that live in Dallas). One particular game I remember going to was during Nolan Ryan’s final season in the majors!  That was really cool!  I also love how this was the first time for the Rangers to make it to the World Series. Very exciting!!!

rangers2

I stayed up late last night just to watch the end of this game! I shouldn’t have cause when 4:15 a.m. hit for my run, I was incredibly tired but it was worth it!!  I’m so excited for the Rangers!

rangers1

I also really like Josh Hamilton.  He’s a key player on this team with a horrible background…but his story is one that shows you that any life can be turned around and made right with lots of prayer and God!  He got into drugs and alcohol abuse really bad a few years back.  He went through rehab and turned his life around.  When they won the game, they sprayed everyone with Ginger Ale instead of champagne (for Josh Hamilton).  I thought that was incredibly awesome and just goes to show how much respect Josh Hamilton has gained from his teammates.  That’s pretty amazing!
