This past Saturday, my running group met up for our first ever “On the Run” Easter Egg hunt!
Have I mentioned how much I love Easter? I could NOT pass up the opportunity to dress in pastels and wear bunny ears! The “tail” was a last minute addition – Jason found a loofa in my bathroom cabinet which doubled as a tail! Perfect!
We met up with our running group and were each given a bag and a run-down of the rules:
#1: The eggs were not really “hidden” – so no need to run in people’s yards or dig in their flower beds!
#2: There were 300+ eggs on the route – each runner was allowed to return 8 eggs.
#3: Once your run was complete, you were to return the eggs for prizes!
Prizes were determined by numbers written on the eggs and the numbers on the eggs corresponded with a list. Several different prizes were given out – candy, “egg money”, running items, even a 6 month free membership to our running group! Score!
There were several “egg stops” along the course!
Check out our video to see the fun we had!
I seriously racked up with prizes! What a fun day!!
Oh yeah – I almost forgot! Despite goofing off, we DID get a long run in! Our plan was to run 10 miles (two 5 mile loops), but we forgot to turn around at the 2.5 mile mark on the last loop and ended up at the 3 mile mark instead. Whoops! Guess we were having so much fun, we didn’t even notice! In the end, we finished our run at 11 miles instead of 10! Oh well – I’m not complaining!
Notice I’m missing something off my knee? Yep! That darn knee brace is no longer there! I ran 11 miles pain FREE! Yay! Hopefully I can keep it that way!
I hope you had a WONDERFUL Easter and enjoyed spending it with your family and friends! We started our day off with church, then dinner at Jason’s grandparent’s house, followed by a little time at my parent’s house where we received our gifts from the Easter Bunny!
Yes, I’m 30 years old and the Easter Bunny still visits me! I had a great weekend and really enjoyed every moment of it!
On a side note, I have two friends who recently started running blogs:
Mackenzie is a newbie and her first 5K was The Color Run last weekend! She started a blog to document her training! Check her out at Run With It.
Scott is a friend from my running group that I ran Goofy’s Challenge with this past January. He has been gaining so much speed these past few months and started a blog/journal to document his training. Check him out at My Runners Journal.
Happy Monday! Hope no one April Fools you! :0)
