Rainy Weekend
Despite all of the rain, we were able to make the most of our weekend together! I sure do love spending time with my little guy!
On Friday night, I had trouble getting him to settle down, so we took a little walk around the neighborhood. I'm so glad we did because that 2 mile walk ended up being my only mileage for the weekend.
Thankfully, he settled down as soon as we began our walk!
I also wore my Legend Compression socks to work that day because my calves were a little sore after that morning's workout. I ended up leaving them on for my walk that evening and they did the job! My legs felt great that night!
Despite the forecast, I set my alarm for a run on Saturday morning. Well, that didn't happen. Not only was it pouring down rain, it was thundering and lightning as well. I love running in the rain, but not that kind of rain (and it continued all Saturday and most of Sunday).
Ah well. I stayed inside and enjoyed watching the Olympics with my little guy! He even wore festive clothing to cheer on Team USA!
After being cooped up in the house all day on Saturday, we visited my parents on Saturday night and had a ball!
On Sunday morning, I got up and watched the Women's Olympic Marathon while getting ready for church. It AMAZES me how fast they run! Incredible!
Speaking of flooding, my church also experienced a crazy flood back in December. There was up to 6 feet of water in some places of the church and it was caused from a break in the main water line. Over 55,000 sq feet was affected and it's taken until now for our restoration project to be completed.
Yesterday, we had our first service back in our sanctuary and it was awesome!
Celebrations all around!
New seating, stage, screens, lighting...everything was awesome!
We attended the evening service because it worked out with Brayden's nap schedule! Yay! A local news crew was there and interviewed several of us for a news spot. (I haven't seen it yet but I've been watching!)
We also had delicious steak and awesome sides!
In other news, I had my first food truck experience last week! There are several trucks in my town and although my husband tried out a few of them, I never had! One was parked near my work last week, so my coworkers and I decided to give it a try. We really liked it!
I ordered the Teriyaki Chicken and it was really good!
It was a lot of food and I ended up making two meals of it!
The egg rolls were my least favorite part of the meal and I ended up only eating one.
However, I give my first food truck experience a B+!
If you think about Louisiana today and over the next few weeks, please say a prayer for those who have lost everything and for those who lost loved ones.
Have a happy Monday!

Fitness Friday - When, Where, and How?
Confession time: I did not run or workout not one single time this week. Not one. Well, unless you count the one mile walk I took with Brayden last night...
What's going on? Well, as most of you know I returned to work this week from maternity leave. I can honestly say that work itself hasn't been bad at all! I didn't even cry like I warned Jason I would!
My job and career is something I'm passionate about and really enjoy, so leaving Brayden for several hours each day with my mom isn't bad at all. Brayden and I still manage to enjoy our afternoon times together and our evening snuggles on the couch. I do miss him throughout the day, but I enjoy returning home to him so much more!
Now, here's where the tricky part comes into play - working out. When, where, and mostly...how? With this new and ever changing schedule of ours, that's something I'm just going to have to figure out. In the meantime, I've set a goal to at least obtain 10,000 steps per day on my fitbit. Although my job is an active one, it doesn't warrant that many steps per day alone so this will take a little effort on my part. I know it's an obtainable goal for now and I'm happy with it!
I do have plans to run this Saturday with my friend Heather and I'm excited about it. I can't wait to run again!
Speaking of Saturday running, last Saturday was an interesting one! Heather and I text back and forth on Friday night to determine our plan of attack. You see, the weather forecast called for 70-100% rain from 5 a.m. until the afternoon on Saturday. I'm not afraid of a little rain, but this one was calling for flash flood warnings and all that craziness!
We decided to play it by ear and re-evaluate in the morning.
On Saturday morning, I woke up to a fog and humidity laden running route but I didn't care - it wasn't raining or lightning, so after a little discussion, we decided to get our run going!
Dreary morning!
We took a before picture because I didn't know if we would even be able to take an after picture!
Our run went well and although the humidity was high, we pushed through. In the end we decided to tack on an extra mile for a total of 6! My furthest distance to run postpartum thus far! Yay!
We managed to make it through the entire run without any rain...but boy was it on the way!
After my run, I heard Madalynn barking like crazy at something from her perch at the front window. I assumed it was the neighbors cat but I was wrong! One of our turtle friends from the end of the road had made its way to my flower bed and was laying eggs! We didn't disturb her (I know the above picture looks like we were close to her but we weren't). She was able to finish her business and leave before the storm hit!
Once the rain came, it came with a vengeance...fast and furious, lightning and all! I was grateful we didn't have to run through that! This picture was taken only about 5 minutes after it started to rain!
I'm excited about the weekend and another run with my BRF tomorrow, although rain is in the forecast once again.
What's your weekend plans?

Rainy Weekend
Happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend! On Friday, I shared that my #1 goal for the weekend was to catch up on my sleep and (thankfully), I got to do just that! Rainy weekends are the best for sleeping, aren’t they? :0)
Friday afternoon, I took a 2 hour nap after work. I debated sleeping in on Saturday morning and skipping my run, but I felt better after my nap. (Don’t we all think more clearly once we’ve had sleep?)
Saturday morning, I woke up and prepared for a rainy day long run. I left my phone in my car, wore a visor, etc. Guess what? It didn’t rain until AFTER we were finished running. Seriously, we got in our cars to drive away and that’s when it began to rain.
I had my visor for rain and didn’t end up needing it. Had I not worn my visor and brought my phone along on my run, the rain would have started right away. Story of my life!
After my run, I came home and made breakfast instead of eating out elsewhere. I decided to try my hand at grain-free waffles (no coconut flour or almond flour, either)…and they were pretty darn good if I do say so myself!
Know what I did after breakfast? I took another 2 hour nap! :D
On Saturday night, Jason and I went out for dinner and a little shopping. Yes, I convinced him to go shopping with me! We found this shirt at the mall and I immediately sent a picture to a few cross-fit friends of mine! Hilarious!
Sunday morning, we went to Church then had lunch with my parents. After we returned home, I attempted to finish up a few things in the backyard while fighting off wasps. UGH. Red wasps were everywhere – seriously, at least 5 of them were flying around. Wasps + me = no go. Ah well, at least I finished what I needed to do! I also cleaned out the garage – which needed it in a BAD way. It looks SO much better now!
Another weekend DIY project we began looks a lot like this:
Yes, I know I said I would NEVER do another DIY project ever again. Guess what? My husband is in charge of this one! :0) After attempting to contact multiple floor guys about changing out the tile, we spoke with someone at Lowe’s who reassured us that replacing three tiles on our own would be ok…so we’ll see what happens. Watch a youtube video, he said….it will be easy, he said…well, I’ve heard all of that before….which is why I’m staying out of this project!
I figure if it looks horrible, we will call someone to come fix it. Never know until you try! We must be really brave…or just really dumb. Guess we’ll see in the end!
Last but not least, I received a surprise on Sunday! A friend of mine just returned from Disney and brought a few rice crispy treats to me! As an added “surprise”, she even threw a Frozen one in the mix! Love it! I can’t remember if I said this already or not, but she got engaged on her recent WDW trip! Her fiancé proposed on the side of the castle by the wishing fountain. I’m so glad her family caught the whole thing on video – I was dying to see how it all played out!
How do you spend your time on rainy weekends?
