Father's Day Weekend 2016

I hope everyone had a great Father's Day Weekend this past weekend! We sure did here!

Although my husband had to work nights this past weekend, we still made the best of our time together and enjoyed celebrating his first Father's Day as a family!

The not so fun part of our weekend consisted of a funeral for my husband's Great Aunt. On Friday night, my parents and I went to the funeral home for the visitation then stopped by a local favorite restaurant for pizza.

Delicious as always!

Saturday morning brought around the funeral and although Jason was working nights, he still made time to attend. His Great Aunt was a missionary to Africa for YEARS and the part of the funeral that got me was when they talked about her reunion in heaven with all of the lives she touched. They also played a video slide show of pictures of her and her time in Africa set to the song "Thank You" by Ray Boltz. I. Balled.

After the funeral, we stopped by McAlisters for a quick bite to eat. I was told last night that the McAlisters in my town officially closed their permanently. If that's true, I'm SO glad we went on Saturday! I will also be incredibly sad if it really is true....

Brayden and I enjoyed some play time on Saturday afternoon after Jason left for work. He's such a happy baby most of the time and really is a joy to be with!

I also put the finishing touches on my dad and father in law's Father's Day gifts! I found this idea through a blog I follow and knew I HAD to use it for Father's Day!

They both loved their gifts, by the way! :)

On Sunday, Brayden and I attended church and had lunch at Izzos with my dad afterwards. (He chose!)

We are so blessed to have so many loving and caring family members in our lives! By the way, check out Brayden's outfit. I just love it!

After returning home, Jason opened his Father's Day gifts! I bought him and Brayden McNeese gear so they could match! :) My husband and I, my parents, my brother, Jason's sister/brother-in-law, etc are all McNeese alumni, so the roots run deep!

Oh yes, he also received his first set of Sperry's for Father's day so now we all match! Fun times!

I ran the second part of the runDisney Virtual Running Shorts series on Friday - I'll have a separate post dedicated to that run sometime this week! Saturday morning also consisted of a long run with my running buddy!

I hope you all had a great weekend and enjoyed spending it with your family! Happy Father's Day to all the amazing dads out there!

  1. Glad to hear that you had a great Father's Day weekend. The matching Sperrys are just too cute!

    1. Thanks so much, Kathryn! I just love little baby shoes! :)

  2. Happy Father's Day to Jason. Brayden does look so happy in your pictures.

    1. Thank you! He really is a happy baby most of the time! :)

  3. Those sperry's are too cute!! We had 2 McAllister's in BR & they're both closed! Originally the one closest to me said there was a problem with their lease & they'd reopen soon but it came out that they're closed permanently. I'm so sad!

    1. Awww sad times! I hate to hear that! We are going to have to go to Lafayette or Beaumont, TX now. Whomp whomp.

  4. I hope your McAlisters isn't really closing or that it's opening somewhere else!

    1. Sad DID. After 11 years. Ugh I'm SO sad.
