Unhealthy

Obesity has become a huge problem in our society. With the inventions of video games (what ever happened to going outside and playing with friends in the summertime?) and fast food, we have become a no-exercise eat whatever we want type of people. I think this really is sad. Don't get me wrong...I LOVE food and I have a HUGE issue with chocolate. I would eat it all day long if I could! LOL Recently, I really started evaluating the foods that I eat on a daily basis. I am a eat-breakfast-every-morning kinda girl. So I decided to check out the ingredients in my daily cereal.

GUESS
WHAT
I
DISCOVERED?!?!

It has .... GASP ... HIGH fructose corn syrup!!!!!!! aaaaaaaaaah! I cannot believe that I've been eating this cereal for forever thinking I was doing good for myself! Ugh so frustrating! Seriously, my day was ruined! Grrr!

So today, I went to Wal Mart and I evaluated every single box of healthy cereal I could find! lol I ended up with Kashi. I love Kashi, I just don't love the price. OH well. If it's better for me, then I'm willing to make the change!

On top of that, my Sister-In-Law Kayla and I went for a run yesterday.
BIG
MISTAKE!
We went around 4 p.m. when I got home from work. Yes, I said scorching hot 4 p.m. We couldn't go later cause we had my brother's birthday shindig that night. Well, we had a mission...3 miles. Boy am I dumb. I found out today that there was a HEAT ADVISORY warning yesterday thank you very much (the temps were over 100 degrees)and they pretty much told everyone to only go outside between the hours of 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. IF YOU HAD TO. Great. So how did the 3 mile run go? Horrible! I had to walk a lot cause my knees were killing me...not to mention I could hardly breathe and my heart kept acting funny. Besides that, the sun was BEATING off the pavement and blazing on us. MISERABLE I tell you!

I thought that I had done well throughout the day drinking water (I had 4 bottles...that's 1 more than my standard) and I wore light clothing. We made it through one loop of our run which was 1.5 miles (led us back to my house) and we got some water, then we turned on the front yard sprinklers and played in them like kids! It was fun and I haven't done that in forever! Not to mention that it felt FABULOUS!

We did need to finish our run though, so we started back again. I'm telling you, in like 5 minutes my shorts and top were dry already. It was insane! After that, I started to get hot all over again and that's when the headache started. We finished the run, played in the sprinklers a little more to cool off, then I came in a took a cool shower. After I got out and got dressed, I realized that I was burning up but freezing at the same time. I know that sounds crazy but I felt as if I wanted to crawl under the covers cause I was so cold but I felt hot at the same time and I stayed that way most of the night. I feel much better today and the headache did go away but it was scary! I wondered if I didn't have the beginning signs/symptoms of heat exhaustion? Well, I can surely promise you this! I will NOT be running outside again in the summer time unless it is cooler outside or it's after 7 p.m., that's for sure! How can I justify this? Well, I now have my treadmill at my house...I left it at my parent's house after I moved out cause I was pretty much against running on the treadmill but now I see that sometimes, it's absolutely necessary if you want to get your run in! So everyone, with these temps, please be careful, stay inside if it's too hot out to run. Don't chance it. You could find yourself in serious condition if you do.

In happier news, look what I found at the Astros game this weekend! I love it!! :0)
