A “Friendly” Disney Surprise

If you read my blog post on Friday, you knew I had something up my sleeve…a surprise of sorts.

Here’s the backstory:

Ever since I began running, my husband has been a steady support for me…always there with camera in hand. He’s followed me from the East Coast to the West Coast, sharing our vacations with races. This year, his birthday falls on Thanksgiving Day. I think that birthdays are special and deserve their own special day, so I proposed a plan – part thank you and part happy birthday.

I contacted his friend Randy and together, we devised a plan to get Jason on a plane to Tampa. I told Jason I wanted him along to keep me company at a Nursing Education Conference. I even had a conference itinerary.  Randy told Jason he would meet him on Saturday to fish from a pier in Tampa (so Jason knew what attire to bring with him). Other than those few things, Jason knew nothing about the conference. Neither Randy or I let the cat slip out of the bag (although it almost happened once or twice)!  When we arrived in Tampa and Jason saw Randy, it took him a little while for him to put everything together. Check out the video below!

Thanks for watching! Stay tuned for more from Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party to running at the Boardwalk and an evening at the Food & Wine Festival. Have a great day!

Have you ever surprised someone? Did your surprise work?

  9. My wife and I flew to Albany NY and surprised my friend and ran the Mohawk Hudson Half marathon with her. Her husband and I planned for months, I even had to contact the race director as they publish entrants names before the start of the race. At the expo, I met the woman that kept my name off the list...lots of fun, but lots of work. Glad you pulled it off!
