Magical Design

I’ve been a runner for several years now (January will make 5 years) and have accumulated quite a medal collection since then.

Several years ago, my husband purchased an Allied Medal Hanger as a birthday gift for me. Over time, the hanger became full and could no longer hold race medals. Guess that meant I needed a new one, right? :0)

Ever since Allied Medal introduced their Magical Designs, I’ve been hooked! I’m the kind of person who is a bit OCD about “likeness”. Since I already owned an Allied Medal Display, why not have another one to add to the collection?

After returning from the Disneyland Half Marathon, I showed the the medal designs to Jason as an idea for a Christmas gift. Days later, I was notified that I won an Allied Medal display of my choice from a giveaway over at Mindy’s blog, Road Runner Girl! Perfect timing! I could not have been more excited!

The medal hanger arrived yesterday and I couldn’t wait to open up the package.

I chose the “Every Mile Is Magic” design and I love love love it! It’s beautiful and perfect for my Disney medal collection!

Sadly, I had several medals (Dumbo’s Double Dare/Coast to Coast) and my photo from Goofy’s Challenge that hadn’t yet found a home. That all changed last night!

The medal hanger arrived with several screws, spacers, and drywall anchors. A quick search of their website brought up installation instructions that were very simple to follow.

After laying out my placement ideas, I got to work!

Despite the level tool, I still have several holes I’ll need to fill in and repaint. Whoops.

These spacers are seriously the best idea, ever! They kept the medal design away from the wall for easy access to the rods. I used three of the five spacers for my Disney design, so the extra two spacers went to my original “Live Your Dream” design. Now all of my Rock n Roll NOLA medals hang without a problem – the medal “ribbons” consist of Mardi Gras beads (I love them, but always had trouble displaying them)!

I am absolutely in love with the finished product!

My Disney medals are displayed from the “Magical Design” hanger and the rest are on the “Live Your Dream” hanger.

I see lots of extra space on my Magical Designs hanger…sounds like plenty of opportunities for future runDisney races to me! :0)

Thanks again, Allied Medal and Mindy! I appreciate everything!

How do you display your race medals?

  3. Love that! I'm out of room on mine, too, so I have a bar on my Christmas list :)

  4. I have a small medal rack for now...because I only have a handful of medals! MANY of the local races here do not give them, so I guess I'll just have to register for more Disney races! LOL

  11. Your display is beautiful Karen. I love that it is all in one place. My medal rack is in one room, some framed photos with medals over my desk and the closet has some tiny medals from local races. I need to take a lesson from you!

  17. Love the finished product! I am jealous of the Allied Medals hanger and the number of your runDisney medals! I am the proud owner of just one (2 if you count the 5K) Disney medals and it is one that is missing from your collection (at least I don't see it there)! The Tinkerbell Half! Good job on all of that running run and accomplishment! That is amazing!

  18. Your medals look amazing and so many too

  19. haha! I haven't gotten a medal to hang yet! My only half was the Zooma, and they hand out necklaces. Can't wait to add some real creds this season :)))

I knew as soon as Mindy announced the winner that you would be getting the Disney one! Of course, only a complete stranger wouldn't have known that (ha!)
