Holiday Protein Shakes

With the return of Winter and colder weather, I find myself longing for a mug of hot chocolate or a nice steaming cup of coffee….the idea of a fruity smoothie or cold beverage is far from my mind.

I recently came across a container of Dr. Mercola’s Miracle Whey Protein Powder while organizing my kitchen cabinets, and I had an idea – what about holiday flavored protein beverages?

With a little research and a few failed attempts, I tweaked a couple of protein shake recipes found online. I hope you find them as delicious as I did!

Holiday Protein Smoothies

Eggnog Protein Shake
(Minus the Egg)
Adapted From: Ellipse Fitness

1/2 cup Greek yogurt – do not add extra, the Greek Yogurt taste will overpower the taste of the smoothie
1/2 cup almond milk
1 tbsp. stevia (or sweetener of choice)
1 scoop Dr. Mercola Miracle Whey Protein Powder, Vanilla
1/2 tsp Nutmeg
1/2 tsp Cinnamon
1/2 tsp Vanilla
1/8 cup water (add more if it needs thinning out)
8 to 10 ice cubes

Add all ingredients except ice to the blender.
Once ingredients are well mixed, add ice.
Serve and enjoy! This recipe makes enough for one person.

1/4 cup Coconut Milk
1/2 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder (optional)

Peppermint Bark Protein Smoothie

Recently, I was given the opportunity to test and review Vanilla Whey Protein Powder by Dr. Mercola.

Dr. Mercola Miracle Whey Protien

I found the taste of Dr. Mercola’s protein powder to be smooth and not overpowering. It added such great flavor to the above beverages, I can’t wait to add it to my smoothies in the Spring!  I would like to thank Dr. Mercola for their generosity. :0)

  1. These sounds yummy! And I love your glasses. They're adorable. :)

I'm with you, though. Winter makes me crave hot beverages - not smoothies. Even water has been difficult for me.

  2. What a fun idea! I have never had protein powder before, but my favorite holiday/winter drinks are the different flavors of chai teas ( love the Gingerbread) and the cider house hot ciders (love caramel apple).
