Three Things Thursday

IMG_4267

1. Today, two families in my area are burying a son/daughter – each in their 20’s. I say it all the time, (kinda starting to sound like a broken record) but life is SO short and our next moments here on this earth are not guaranteed. It’s sad that it takes a tragedy as a reminder, but I want to make a difference with the time I’m given here – really and truly LIVE my life to its fullest, for as long as I’m given.  If you think about it, please say a prayer for these families. Both deaths were sudden and tragic. Thank you!

2. Planning a race is NO easy task. We are currently in the process of putting the pieces together for our area’s next Gleaux Run. The Gleaux Run is a 5K put on by the American Cancer Society and it takes place at night. Runners wear glow in the dark items and run a course through downtown, “Gleaux(ing) for a Cure”. I never realized how many “behind the scenes” things take place when putting on a race – and I don’t want to forget anything, so I have sticky notes EVERYWHERE. This is my first time to truly help plan a race from beginning to end. It’s madness, I tell you…but it’s going to be GREAT!

3. Speaking of running, we’ve been blessed with lower humidity lately…which has made for a few great runs in the afternoons after work! YAY! I know as the summer goes on, the temperatures are going to rise higher and higher…so I’m taking advantage of these lower humidity days while I can! The Frozen soundtrack has suddenly made a comeback on my playlist here recently, too…
Do you wanna build a snowman?

How’s the weather where you are? Hope the summer heat isn’t terrible! Have you ever run a nighttime race? What tips/pointers do you have for a first time race planner?

  1. The weather here (in Kansas) has been equally amazing! I have LOVED having these cooler weather (less humidity) runs! It is a nice change of pace after 90 degree +

  2. The humidity had dropped here too! I'm ready to start running again. Vacation always throws you off! I'm sorry about the loss of these families. We know a family whose husband will not make it through the end of this weekend because his cancer is terminal and was found everywhere all over in his body.. We will be praying for your families. Life is precious! You're making a difference Karen! I'm so thankful for your friendship even miles away!

  5. I am so sorry for your friends. It is such a shame that such tragedies have to happen. :0( I am sending prayers their way for sure.

Houston weather hasn't been too bad lately too but once the rain let's up the humidity will be back 100% lol!

Planning a race would be so much fun! Any chance we could see a race planning post on your blog in the future?

  7. I love sticky notes! So much that my coworkers have asked if I have a sticky note to explain my sticky notes. Haha. :)
At work, I have to review death certificates from time to time and my heart aches every time a parent brings their child's. Such tragedies.
My current weather in CA is wonderful, but I'm bracing myself for the heat and humidity when I move to Texas in a couple weeks!
