Random Thoughts Thursday

Random Thoughts of a Runner

  • I spent several hours in a vehicle yesterday with a few nursing colleagues and it was so refreshing. We travelled out of town for a meeting and spent a lot of time talking and laughing about all sorts of things – it was a great day and exactly what I needed.

  • I’m debating running another marathon for a charity organization. During the above mentioned car ride, we talked a lot about St. Jude’s and what they do for children who are diagnosed with cancer and their families. I had no idea that St. Jude also houses and feeds them for the duration of their treatments. One of my nursing colleagues had a child family member that was diagnosed with leukemia and received treatment at St. Jude’s for 3 months. The child’s mom was housed and fed the entire time! Amazing.
  • Lately, I come to realize something that I already knew to be true – friends are more valuable than you think. I am truly blessed with the wonderful people God has placed in my life and I cherish their friendship more than they know. Friends are there to pick you up when you’re down and truly celebrate life’s accomplishments with you (and vise versa)…I couldn’t ask for anything better and am so thankful for all of them!

  • All of this marathon weekend talk makes me so excited for Princess! I can’t wait for a weekend filled with running fun followed by a cruise and more running! :D I know it’s cheesy, but I’ve been drinking coffee out of my Marathon Weekend mugs all week. I’m so excited for everyone who’s participating and can’t wait to cheer them on from home! Good luck to everyone running this weekend!
  • We have a Relay for Life Kickoff breakfast this morning and I am so excited! I love the start of Relay season…it’s such a fun time!

Random Thoughts of a Runner (5)

  • This sweet little dog appeared in my neighborhood last Friday. When she was still around on Saturday morning, I posted pictures to Facebook on all of the area lost & found sites. One of my neighbors kept her at his house over the weekend and thankfully, her owner came forward on Sunday!  The dog was such a sweet little girl, definitely a lap dog, and loved people so I knew she wasn’t “dumped”, she just lost her way and couldn’t make it back home on her own. You have no idea how happy I was when her owner came forward to claim her. Ah the power of Facebook! :)

I want to hear from you! Any random thoughts of your own? :) Any positive facebook stories? When is your next racing event? Have you ever run with a charity?

  1. I ran the St. Jude Marathon as a St. Jude Hero last month. By far, the best event I've done. So inspiring. So meaningful. I highly recommend it.
