Disney Cruise Day 6: St. Thomas
We planned on snorkeling that day and shopping in the afternoon, but I'm getting a little ahead of myself here.
I woke up early the morning of our visit to St. Thomas so I could watch the ship pull into port. I was intrigued by several structures I saw on our way in, so I kept them in the back of my mind to ask about later.
The day was simply perfect!
While the ship did it's official docking, Jason and I had breakfast in Cabana's. No Disney Cruise breakfast is complete without Mickey waffles! :)
As I mentioned earlier, our plan for the day was to take a catamaran to a sunken shipwreck in "pirates cove" for a little snorkeling! When you hear "pirates cove" and shipwreck, you think of an old wooden pirate ship like the kind you would see in the movies, right? Well, I did. Sadly, this was an old WWII ship that was sold off after the war and the captain who purchased it, used to to smuggle goods to the islands. When he found out he was about to get caught, he sunk his own ship. Face palm.
Anyway, on our catamaran ride out to shipwreck cove, we saw more evidence of Hurricane Irma's destruction. The side of this resort had a massive hole in it and was still not back up and functioning at the time.
Despite the silly pirate story, we still enjoyed our snorkeling experience and even had a guide along with us. This was my first time to ever snorkel with a guide and she was fabulous! I also loved how she referenced Finding Nemo with several of the fish we saw. (We saw a lot of blue tang which she referred to as Dory!)
My favorite part of the snorkeling experience was the sea turtle. We literally swam with it for a little ways and it was incredible! This snorkeling excursion was hands down one of my favorites, ever.
As the excursion neared its end and we returned to the catamaran, we saw a lot of blue tang hanging out at the bottom of the boat!
This really was a great experience overall, especially the guided part!
We returned to the ship around noon and saw crew members repainting the hull. They seriously did this all day long. It's amazing to me how much care and attention Disney gives to their ships!
Since it was only noon and we had another four hours to explore, we grabbed a quick bite to eat on the ship, showered, then returned to the port to do a little shopping!
Unlike Tortola, the port here at St. Thomas was bustling and full of stops!
Since we had so much time remaining on the island, I suggested to Jason that we take the gondola ride to the top of Paradise Point! Thankfully, he agreed with me!
The view of St. Thomas was simply gorgeous from the top of Paradise Point!
At the top of Paradise Point, there was a restaurant and a few shops. Since we just ate on the ship, we didn't have anything to eat, but we did sit for a while and enjoy the use of our cell phones (since St. Thomas is a US territory).
As we went to leave, we noticed some form of commercial or something being taken. We couldn't tell what they were doing, but it was interesting to watch while we waited for our gondola! Oh, and if you're curious, it's a 7 minute ride to the top and a 7 minute ride back down.
I absolutely love tropical flowers!
Once we returned to the boat, we headed over to The Tube for our first ever DVC event! It was a mix and mingle event where DVC members could share stories and meet fellow DVC members. Fun times!
As a mid-afternoon snack, I had a little birthday treat. I mean, I couldn't let the entire cruise go by without having one of these special August themed cupcakes, could I?!
The middle was filled with raspberry! :)
It was a pretty tasty cupcake!
Sunsets at sea are the best! :)
That evening, we caught the late showing of Ant-Man and The Wasp! We had been looking forward to seeing it on our cruise and were excited it all worked out!
Up next: Our final at sea day! Stay tuned for more cruise fun from the Disney Fantasy!

VLOG: Disney Cruise Line Day 7 & 8 (At Sea Day & Castaway Cay)
Our final two days consisted of an at Sea Day where we completely and 100% enjoyed a brunch at Palo. We might have also won a trivia game that day, too!
Last but not least, our final day on the cruise took us to Castaway Cay where we ran the 5K, snorkeled, and spent time at Serenity Bay!
In all, we had a fantastic time and loved our fabulous 10th Anniversary celebration spent at sea!
If you're interested in these recaps and want to see more, stay tuned this fall because more will be coming your way! Also, I'll be in and out of Instagram throughout our cruise posting updates, so be sure to follow along with our adventures there!

My morning began with a run around the jogging deck. I'd planned to fit my regular 3 weekly runs in during the week but also wanted to give myself plenty of time to rest and rejuvenate. Our excursion that day didn't start until later in the morning so I figured it was the perfect time for a run!
Our excursion that day included a visit to Stingray City. I'd never snorkeled with stingrays in prior to this cruise so I had no clue what to expect!
When we arrived at the sandbar, there were at least 50 stingrays swimming all around the docked boats. Each boat had its own bucket of feed and those stingrays sure knew what the bucket meant!
We got in the water and before long, stingrays were swarming our area. Every now and again, I would feel one swim up against my leg. It was the oddest yet coolest feeling!
Such gentle creatures!
Why, hello there! :)
This was definitely one of the coolest excursions I'd ever done!
Our boat captains even let us hold a stingray for a photo!
Such an incredible experience!
On our way back to the port, I kept my eye out for the local restaurant offerings along the way. We ate at Hard Rock last time we were in Grand Cayman and this time we wanted a local fare. We had several hours to kill, so we headed over to Rackam's which was one of the restaurants I spotted on our way back to the port. Their menu offered seafood which sounded perfect to me!
Bonus: we had an amazing view of our ship from our table!
I ordered the fish and chips since we were in British territory and it was delicious!
After dinner, we walked over to the shopping area and both Melissa and I purchased a Grand Cayman charm for our Pandora bracelets! We also sat for a few minutes and enjoyed a little free wifi!
Our evening dinner was in Enchanted Garden and I began by ordering broccoli cheese soup off of the kids menu. :)
One of my favorite dishes of the cruise included turkey and dressing...reminded me of Thanksgiving!
Dessert that evening was fabulous, too!
Our assistant server offered to take a picture of us in the restaurant. Come to find out, he used to work for photography on board the cruise line!
The remainder of our evening was spent in the adult area watching Match Your Mate!
This show was hysterical as always! It's definitely a must-see on every cruise we've taken!
It wasn't long before we called it a night! We had another fun day ahead - this time in Jamaica where I had the opportunity to cross an item off of my "must-do" list - zip-lining in a tropical location!
Thanks for following along! :)

Disney Princess Half Trip Recap–Disney Dream Day 2
When I left off with my Disney Princess recap, we were on board the Disney Dream and day 1 was complete! Today, I bring you Day 2 and our visit to Nassau!
Speaking of Disney Cruise Line, 2016’s itineraries were released yesterday! I’m excited to see that the Magic is returning to NYC! If you’re at all interested in the NY to Canada cruise, book it! We had a ton of fun! If you’re on the fence and interested in reading a recap, check out mine here (scroll down the page a little and you’ll see the NY/Canada section).
Back to our Disney Dream cruise and Day 2…..
Our ship arrived in Nassau bright and early. It was fun to watch them dock!
Ready for a snorkeling adventure!
Our Nassau ship mate happened to be the Norwegian Pearl! We were on the Pearl when we visited Alaska several years ago.
Last time we were in Nassau, we did the same snorkeling excursion and really enjoyed it. I’m just being honest – we did not enjoy the rest of Nassau, so we decided to go snorkeling this time, then head back to the ship to try out the AquaDuck (since we were already wet from the excursion).
I’m getting ahead of myself, though….
One difference I felt with this snorkeling excursion was the amount of people on the catamaran. We also had another ship full of people on board with us and boy was it crowded!
It didn’t stop us from having fun, though!
This is what our catamaran looked like…
The water was gorgeous! We snorkeled for about an hour before heading back to the ship. I did enjoy this excursion but I don’t know if I would book it again for a third time.
We were all given punch and chips on the way back.
Hello and goodbye Nassau! Back to the ship we go!
The first stop once back on board the Dream was our room – I wanted to drop off my bag before going up top to the AquaDuck.
Lucky for us, the line was only about 15-20 minutes long (yay)! We had so much fun the first time, we decided to enjoy a second round! :)
After getting cleaned up and eating lunch, we made our way to the Buena Vista Theater for the runDisney Castaway Challenge panel. If you’re interested in reading about my Castaway Challenge adventures, check here and here.
Before dinner, we said goodbye to Nassau as the ship pulled out of port. For a minute there, I almost forgot we were docked in a port at all!
Dinner that evening was dress-up night and our rotation had us at the Royal Palace (I thought that was very fitting)!
Belle!
Dinner was delicious as always.
Despite having a REALLY early morning the next day for the Castaway Cay 5K, we still watched “Match Your Mate” in the adult club. It was hilarious as always. We were shocked to feel the ship docking at Castaway Cay while we were still in the adult area – it was only 11:30 p.m.!
Before long, we said goodnight because we had a super early day the next morning!
Stay tuned for our day at Castaway Cay!
Have you been to Nassau? What do you like to do there? Ever taken a fun excursion I should know about?
