Mini-Taper!

Thursday night, I spontaneously signed myself up to run a Half Marathon in my hometown…only problem is, the Half is THIS WEEKEND!  Eeek!

swamp stomp

Most of my running group participates in the Swamp Stomp and it is as a training run on my schedule so I knew if I didn’t run the Half, I probably wouldn’t be motivated enough to get out there and run 13 miles on my own! Hah!

I ran 10 miles this past Saturday and it wasn’t bad (the only problem I had was a sugar buzz from all the sugar I ate the day before….never again!)  Ice cream with a friend, then TEN roasted marshmallows…that’ll do something to your blood sugar!

So, this week, I’m running 4 miles, then 3 miles, then 2 miles….then I’m taking Thursday and Friday off for my Half Marathon on Saturday!!  I’m also limiting my sugar content.  I’m not cutting it out altogether but I’m also not going to eat ice cream and roasted marshmallows the night before the race! :0)

This will be the first Half I’ve ever run by myself! :0)  My strategy:  Music!!!  Hope the weather is decent!

  1. It sounds like you have a great plan in place. The Swamp Stomp sounds fun. I love the logo.

I am running a ten mile race this Saturday. It's a tough course. After a 5K this past Friday night, my right knee was killing me, so I ran three easy miles on Saturday, then did seven miles on the elliptical yesterday. Like you, I am going to take it easy this week, and save it all for the race on Saturday. Good luck, and I can't wait to read all about it!

  2. YOU WILL LOVE IT!

I've only run one marathon out of 7 with a "partner". I actually prefer to run alone?! Probably makes me weird but . . . ;)

  5. I love the alligator! Way to go on doing a half as part of your training! Running in a race atmosphere is so much more fun than hanging out on a treadmill for a couple of hours. Have fun and good luck!!!

  6. Have fun! You will do great with the music! You have had to run 10 miles by yourself, so this will be no problem for you!
