A Little Bit of Magic

Last night, my husband and I decided to have a very impromptu date night! We began at the theater with Monster’s University (which was awesome, by the way), followed by dinner, then FroYo.

During the movie, I realized something….I need a little happy in my life right now, so I’m thinking Disney thoughts and reliving fun memories. Follow along and answer the questions for yourself if you’d like!  By the way, this is my 500th post here on Just Me & My Running Shoes! I couldn’t think of a better topic to celebrate it by! :0)

Favorite runDisney Race

Hands down, the Disney Princess Half Marathon. I ran the Princess Half in 2012 and had a BLAST. I am registered for the 2014 Glass Slipper Challenge and I cannot wait! Besides, what girl doesn’t like wearing a tiara all weekend? (Especially if it’s a sparkly one!)

What? A Glass Slipper Challenge? Yippeee!

Favorite Disney Movie

Goodness, I can’t pick just one. My favorite animated movies are Tangled and Lilo & Stitch. Favorite film movies - Princess Diaries and The Rookie.

Favorite Disney Song

When You Wish Upon A Star
. This song really brings me back to my childhood and I love that the Wishes Fireworks show is centered around Jiminy & this piece of music!

Favorite Disney Park

I absolutely love love love Disney World, but Disneyland in California holds a special place in my heart as well. We visited Disneyland for our 1st Anniversary and there’s just a magic in the air I’ve yet to feel at any other Disney park. The sheer fact that Walt Disney himself walked down Main Street and stayed inside the park on occasion gives it an extra special feeling! I’m excited to return for Dumbo Double Dare in August/September!

Favorite Disney Restaurant

Ohana. Why do I love Ohana so much? The food is good, but my absolute favorite is their dessert – Bread Pudding with Ice Cream and Bananas Foster Sauce. Every time we go, I always ask for dessert first. (Which I then inform the wait staff that I’m kidding – even though I’m really not.) When it’s actually time for dessert, I always ask for my own portion….yes, I do share with others at the table, even though I really don’t want to!  :0)

Heaven on a plate!

Favorite Disney Character

Mickey and Minnie Mouse are my favorites! I used to LOVE Eeyore back in high school, but as I grew up, my tastes changed to Mickey and Minnie as well!

Have you ever dressed up as a Disney character?

Why yes I have! My Church held a “Cinderella’s Closet” event a few years ago. I dressed as Cinderella for the dress drive and had SO MUCH FUN! I also dressed up as Cinderella for a friend’s little girl’s birthday party. Her party was Cinderella themed, of course!

Describe your favorite Disney Memory

My favorite memory from all of my Disney experiences is from my Honeymoon in 2007. I wrote a blog post about this incredibly magical moment here. Go check it out!

Any additional random Disney fact you’d like to share?

You probably already know this if you’ve been reading my blog for some time now, but I’m a BIG kid at heart and absolutely loved the Disney Channel growing up. As an adult, I still love the Disney Channel although I have to admit that I don’t watch it as much anymore. Anyway…Sonny With A Chance, Hannah Montana, Suite Life, High School Musical, Camp Rock….yeah, loved them all. I event spent my 28th birthday at a Camp Rock 2/Demi Lovato/Jonas Brother’s concert. Yes I just admitted that out loud. What can I say? My internal clock says I’m 16 years old and I would like it to stay that way! :0)

Somehow, I also recently talked my husband into dressing up like High School Musical characters for a friend’s 18th birthday party. I still have no clue or idea why or how I got him to agree, but he did…and we were a big hit!

What time is it? SUMMERTIME! Woooo!

I feel better now! A bit of Disney Magic was all I needed! :0)

  1. Your husband sure is a good sport. Or maybe just really in love (ha!)

Anyway, I guess I am not a Disney fan since I have lived in Florida or S. Georgia almost my whole life and never been to Disney World - although I did go to Disney Land on my honeymoon !

    You are too cute, btw!

    1. He's a VERY good sport!! I feel kind of the same way about New Orleans. I've lived a few hours away my entire life and while its fun, it's not somewhere I would choose to go a lot.

  2. Happy 500th post! I am hoping someday to get to Disneyland or world, I wouldn't know the difference. Love Disney.

    1. Thanks, Christy! Hope you get to go, also!! You would love it! :0)

  3. LOVE!!!!!!!!! Ok, I don't know how to link up, but I'll figure it out after I answer all the questions. I spent years watching Disney, as an adult! My daughter was a good excuse, but I enjoyed all those shows as well. The new ones, not so much. I'm excited to do this later!

    1. Hey Karen...I didn't know how the first time I saw something like this either so no worries! You write a blog post answering the questions, then return to this post and click on the little blue icon that says "Add Your Link"...then follow the directions and it will add a link of your blog post to this one! That way everyone can see your favorites, too! :0)

  4. Oh absolutely! I saw Monster's University in the theater on Sunday, then later watched Beauty and the Beast at home.

Favorite runDisney race would have to be the 2012 Princess half. My first half had to be at Disney.

Favorite movie is Beauty and the Beast

Favorite song is I Wanna Be Like You

    Favorite park is Disneyland

    Favorite character is Lumiere

I have dressed up as a character - Cap'n Hook when I went through my pirate phase

Favorite memory is singing Small World with my Grandfather

And I did my high school history thesis on Walt.

    1. I ran the 2012 Princess Half, too! SO much fun!! :0) Cap'n Hook...how much fun is that! Love it! Also love that you did your high school thesis on Walt! Awesome!!

  5. I love this post, and I'm totally going to copy it over on my blog :)

I am also a huge fan of Tangled (I want to watch it all the time, like I'm 5 years old!) and Ohana is DELICIOUS. That bread pudding. The bread. The salad. The endless meat! YUM!

    1. Yay! Link up when you do...would love to see your favorites too! Yum...my mouth is watering now! Hah!

  6. And also - what a fun impromtu date night! I think my husband and I are going to do the same thing tonight :)

  7. Great post! I'm a huge Disney fan. :) At our wedding, we had Mickey and Minnie bride and groom antenna balls as our cake topper. I wish I could post a picture for you, but they look similar to your ear hats, just smaller. :)

  8. This post made me so happy, thanks for sharing! I can't even tell you how many versions of When You Wish Upon a Star I have on my ipod, and just seeing the castle intro to any Disney movie gets me teary-eyed! We're trying O'Hana for the first time for our Half Marathon trip in January..so excited!

    1. I know what you mean about the movie castle intro!! I'm a sap, too! :0) Eeek!! Hope you enjoy Ohana! It's a must-do on every trip!

  9. Love this post! It made me smile alot! Also love Disneyland and can't wait for Christine to see it with me in August/September.

  10. So fun!!! Love this post!! Monsters U was awesome - I thought they did a great job. And count me as another adult who indulges their 12 year old girl and watches the Disney Channel when I can! :)

  11. I love your Disney post, and congrats on your 500th post :)
I want to go see Monsters U, hoping to either go tomorrow night or early next wee

  12. Love this post! Will try to link up to it! But for now-my favorite movie is a tie between Beauty and the Beast & Peter Pan, favorite character is Mickey & Minnie! We honeymooned in Disney World/Cruise too! Oh, and my husband must love me too-he dressed up like Captain Hook for the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party!

  13. Loved this post so much that I answered the questions myself. Great idea! Glad you enjoyed Monsters University. My wife and I loved the film as well. What can I say? Pixar is awesome!

  14. I love your walk down Disney lane. Great pictures too.
