Fitness Friday–5/1

It’s already May – I can hardly believe it! Happy May! :)
Anyone else singing NSYNC “It’s Gonna Be Me” in their head right now? Cause it’s stuck in mine….and has been since yesterday…

SaturdayLog Off, Shut Down, Go Run Virtual 10K
Sunday – Rest Day
Monday –  Tone It Up “The Mermaid”; 3 mile run
Tuesday –  PT Routine – Core/Squats/Lunges with weights
Wednesday – 2 mile run
Thursday – 3 mile bridge run + boot camp 
Friday – Rest Day

This week was an eventful one, but I really enjoyed it! My workouts consisted of a few new things and I loved switching things up!

A cool front came through over the weekend and it felt so great on Monday night, I just had to go out and run!

This was my first nighttime run in a long time. I told my husband if I wasn't back in 30 minutes, call the cops! Hah!

On Thursday night, Kenzie and I met up with our running group for a bridge and boot camp workout.

The workout was great – I loved it and it was nice to workout with a friend!

I took the last mile to really focus on hitting the bridge hard. In the end, I ran an 8:35 min mile and that entire mile was on the bridge! Know that “hurt so good” feeling? Yeah…that was me last night!

After the run, we had dinner at my favorite little café followed by a dessert of ice cream from Sonic! Yum!

Another twist to my workouts this week included a routine from Tone It Up called “The Mermaid”. I browsed their YouTube channel after I finished the workout and discovered that they have several listed on their site! I’m definitely going to try a few of these out!

I also tried a smoothie recipe from their website this week – it was delicious!

This weekend, I have a long run planned for Saturday. After the run, we have brunch and movie plans with Jason’s sister/brother in law. We’re going to see the new Avengers movie! Can’t wait!

  2. What a great week of mixing it up Karen! I'm going to have to check out that Tone It Up site! And the Avengers!!!! I want to see it so bad! Let me know how it is and if it's appropriate for 7 and 9 year old boys! :-)

  3. I currently am looking for ways to mix up my Thursdays. I'm bored of just biking and going home, so I did a HIIT core workout yesterday, and I'm looking for other things too.

    1. I have yet to do a HIIT workout - looking forward to one (hopefully next week)!

  6. I have never done any TUI workouts, but have heard great things. I want to see the Avengers too, but I might wait for DVD.

    1. I've enjoyed them so far (only done 2 of their workouts but sheesh...the HIIT workout was TOUGH)!

  7. I've never heard of these Tone Up Workouts, but they sound pretty cool. I'll have to look into them, always looking for fun ways to mix it up!
    Wow, you've had a pretty impressive race calendar so far:) I have to say, I am definitely craving a salad now, that looks amazing!

    1. Same here - I like to mix things up a bit! :) Thanks...I like to have a race to focus on - keeps me motivated!

  8. Is tone up workout that much easy. I never tried it. Want to try it. May be it will be good. I am too conscious about fitness. I feel more strength as I use Pro Hormones It doesn't have side effects. Now I think I too need to plan a workout like this. I really like this idea.
