My first running outfit! lol I haven't had a chance to wear the pink dot! I loved it!!
The last 2 days, I pretty much stayed in my room, caught up on sleep, internet, and phone calls. What a life! I loved being lazy and enjoying my time off (I'm never able to be lazy...seems like I'm always going going going!) lol Anyway, so after 2 days of lounging around, I decided to get out and see a little of Duke University! It's close to our hotel and I was just gonna walk there but our Hotel van driver advised me against it so he drove me! Yay!
I went to the Duke University Chapel first! It is SO GORGEOUS! I loved exploring it!

This place is absolutely breathtaking! There are no words to describe how beautiful it is inside!
My next stop: Sarah P. Duke Gardens!

The Gardens were beautiful, also! I spent about an hour and a half walking the trails through the Gardens! So many beautiful things to see! I think this would be a perfect place to sneak away with your significant other for some quiet time! It would be a beautiful place for an engagement as well! There's something magical about this place!

Tomorrow, my cousin who lives in NC is coming to pick me up and we are going to go exploring a little more! Can't wait!!!
Needless to say, I didn't do my 2 mile run today. I wanted to give my foot a bit of a break...but I did walk over 2 miles at Duke today so that counts instead! LOL

"I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference." --Robert Frost
looks so pretty there! glad you got to get out of the hotel!
ReplyDeleteWelcome to Tarheel country. Nice pics of Duke gardens - that place is beautiful, and beautiful in different ways depending on the season you go there. Good call from the driver on not walking to the campus, Durham can be a bit rough.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your training! Look forward to following your updates up to and across the finish line of your first 26.2.
Yay glad you got in a run! And Duke is absolutely beautiful. I'm glad you're enjoying your vacation :)
ReplyDeleteThanks y'all! Jen it is so pretty here! In LA, we have all flat lands so I'm loving the hills! I told my mom I should probably get a workout on one of the hills! lol
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are so pretty of the Gardens. When you put that part of the poem on there it made me laugh. I had to memorize that entire poem whenever I was a sophmore in High school. haha
ReplyDeleteSo did I, Kayla! lol That's what made me think of it!
