The Icing on the Cake!

This past weekend, we visited Houston, Tx for an overnight trip!  We had an AMAZING time!

Remember my Baseball posts?  See here (The Boys of Summer are Back) and here (Since we are Discussing Baseball)…  Well, I felt like such a phony for saying that I love baseball so much but haven’t made it to any games yet this season, so my husband and I made a last minute decision to pack up for an overnight trip and visit the Astros!

I booked a room at our favorite hotel…Inn At the Ballpark…

inn-at-the-ballpark

It’s our favorite because it’s right across the street from Minute Maid Park!  We love being able to walk across the street to the game!  I made the reservation online but had a little hitch so I had to call the hotel directly.  The guy that helped me on the phone was SO nice!  He had such great customer service, he fixed my problem right away, and helped make me even more excited for our trip!

We arrived at the hotel to check in and guess who helped us?  The same friendly guy I spoke with on the phone the day before!  He noticed my Minnie Mouse metal cup (I carry it with me everywhere) and asked if we had ever visited the parks!

Have we ever visited the parks?!

Hah!  So we proceeded to discuss WDW, DCL, and DL with him!  In the course of conversation, we discovered that he is a former Cast Member who is in Houston for school and can’t wait to get back to WDW!  We discussed various WDW things with him….he even commented on my Toy Story Disney Visa Card!

Before we knew it, he gave us our room number and told us that he “upgraded” us.  I had no clue what kind of upgrade he meant because we booked the basic King Room with the Bed and Breakfast Package.  I was so excited to find out!  As for the icing on the cake…..he directed us towards the elevators, told us he had to “take care of his Disney people”, then wished us “A MAGICAL DAY!”  Aaaaaah!  Oh my gosh I felt like I was checking into a WDW hotel!!!!!!

We got to our hotel room as fast as we could (on the 12th floor – top level of the hotel), ran to the window, and look what we saw…..

It’s Minute Maid Park!!!!!!!!!!!!! I could have kissed the guy, I was so excited!  Haha!

Loving the view!!!!

After relaxing for a minute and changing into our Astros jerseys, we walked across the street to the ballpark for the game!

Look who we found just as we walked in!  This day was just getting better and better!!! :0)

Awesome ballpark food….not really traditional ballpark food but that’s ok!  Hah!

Now before I tell you where we sat, I have to tell you that we purchased the cheap seats.  Let’s face it – the Astro’s ain’t doing so hott this season – which means that not as many fans attend the games.  We took a chance and decided to sit in the “expensive” seats to eat our dinner.  We made a plan – we agreed to sit in these seats until someone came to claim their seats!  So we sat for batting practice……

….and we sat for the beginning of the game……

….and a couple innings…..

….and a couple more innings….

….and an ice cream break…. :0)

…and still, no one claimed their seats!  You wouldn’t believe the empty seats all around us!

We watched this crazy collision that took the Astros 1st baseman out of the game….

….and we watched this amazing catch by Astros outfielder Michael Bourne!

He’s an incredible outfielder!!!!

…and even though the Astros lost, we still had a fabulous time at the game!  The weather was PERFECT, the roof was open, and it was a perfect day for a ball game!  I can’t wait to go back!

After the game, we got to watch Friday Night Fireworks!

So much fun as always!

The following morning, we woke up, ate breakfast, then made our way to the Galleria!  My mission: new cute trendy tops!

The icing on the cake?

Banana Republic was having a sale - 40% off EVERYTHING (including sales) thanks to the Royal Wedding!  Oh yes!  I was SO excited! I racked up on tops and probably spent way too much money but that’s ok! My husband was with me and approved of everything!  Hah!  I had an awesome time!

I also discovered that they are about to open a Lululemon in the Houston Galleria!  Woooohooooo!

We ate a late lunch in Cheesecake Factory and shared a piece of Cheesecake, of course!  This one was a Reeses, Butterfinger, Peanut Butter Mousse slice!!! :0)  Yummy!

Upon arriving at home after our awesome weekend, I discovered that my closet decided to blow up!  Ugh.  I have HATED the stupid wire rack that second as closet shelves since the day we moved in.  We were supposed to change them out to the real wood shelves that should have been there in the first place, but we never got around to it.

Sunday, we made it our mission to re-do the closet!  We stocked up on supplies after church and got to work!  In the middle of re-creating, I also purged my closet!  I took out SO MANY clothes that I don’t wear anymore!

See how many coat hangers I freed from clothes?!  Haha!

My goal was to be able to have ALL of my clothes and coats in my bedroom closet and still have room!  I am so excited to say that I met that goal!!!!  Before, my winter clothes and coats were in a totally different closet (in the guest bedroom) – now, all of my clothes are in one place!  Yay!  I am SO sore today because last night, I did lots of squats/lunges picking up coat hangers off the floor, hanging up clothes, etc.

See all of the coat hangers?!  Haha!

My next huge project?  Working on my husband’s side.  He has more clothes than I do, believe it or not!  :0)

Needless to say, I had a super busy weekend and didn’t run…but I hope to get a run in a couple of days this week mixed with cross training! :0)  Have a fabulous  Tuesday!
