10th Anniversary Vacay - Day 4, Cozumel

When I left off with our 10th Anniversary Disney Cruise recap, we were ending our first day at sea and heading into our first port day of Cozumel, Mexico.
The sunrise that morning was a beautiful one. I just love to watch the sun rise and set at sea! :)

After getting ready for our day, we had an early breakfast, then met up with our excursion group inside of the D-Lounge. Our destination for the day was Chichen Iza, a place neither Jason nor I had visited in the past!

First, we had to take this giant boat on a good 40ish minute ride to Playa del Carmen.

Unfortunately, this boat ride wasn't the smoothest one ever, but my friend Melissa came through with these amazing ginger candies which helped tremendously!

After reaching our destination in Playa del Carmen, we walked a short ways to a tour bus which we then boarded for a 2 hour bus ride to the ruins.

We were given a lunch bag to snack on during the ride. Although we did have a 2 hour bus ride ahead of us, our tour guide kept us entertained part of the way with stories about the Mayans and their history.

Chichen Iza was an interesting place and our guide gave a great tour. If you've never visited here, I highly recommend it. I wasn't a huge fan of the 2 hour bus ride there and back, but I definitely say it was worth it!

Sadly, we were only given about an hour and a half to view the site and buy a few souvenirs because we had to get back to our ship by 4:30 p.m.

When I say that we literally walked up to the gangplank at exactly 4:30 p.m., I mean it! We weren't nervous because we were on a Disney authorized excursion, but we were still cutting it close!

That evening was the Halloween party and as we returned to our room, we noticed that people were already getting into the festivities!

We skipped the evening show and spent time getting ready for the Halloween party and dinner!

The Pumpkin tree sprouted pumpkins overnight!

We also might have done a little trick-or-treating like we did when we attended Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party! No shame on our part when it comes to chocolate! :)

Disney hands out the good candy, too!

Dinner that evening was in Animator's Palate which happens to be my favorite on board!

Also, one of my favorite DCL menu items is the butternut squash soup! Delicious!

For dinner, we had steak.....and for dessert, I had a Mickey bar! :)

After dinner, we noticed that the line for Pluto was incredibly short, so we stopped for a quick picture! His candy cane costume is just too cute!

In the adult club that night, they had another Halloween party going on - this one called "Halloween Is Not Just For Kids!"

Adults dressed in all kinds of different awesome costumes. Sadly, I don't have a picture but a man dressed as Tron with a fully lit up costume. He called himself "Fat Tron" and it was hysterical! We loved this party and had a great time there!

After the party, we decided to call it a night! Another fun day on the Disney Fantasy was done! :)

Thanks for following along on our special trip! Stay tuned for more!

      1. How fun to be on the cruise during a holiday! I was looking forward to seeing you and Jason in costume..lol

We vacationed in Play del Carmen this summer and one of the excursions that was offered was to Chitchen Iza and we thought it would be neat to see but we were turned off by the 2 hour bus ride.

        1. HAH no...I couldn't convince him we needed costumes this time around! Oh well!

The 2 hour bus ride was the worst!

      2. I love the trick or treating at Disney. I like that people were in the holiday spirit.
