Happy 4th! A day I’ll never forget!

Happy Birthday, America! I hope everyone has enjoyed celebrating what freedom is all about! :0)

My day began with a race….a race I will definitely NEVER forget!

I met up with my friends before the race and we were optimistic about the outcome….until we started walking towards the finish line. The air suddenly felt thicker and the sun beat down harder. I knew right then and there that I was doomed!

My iPod started to play “Don’t Stop Believing” from the Glee Soundtrack. It’s an oldie, I know…but it’s still a really good one! I decided to set the song on repeat for inspiration. :0)

Needless to say, it was a HOT one today and we felt the heat the entire run. We even had to stop and walk a few times because we were wheezing! Ugh.

I made the mistake of looking at my time from last year’s race, which just so happened to be right around 35:35. Having not trained much this summer, I knew a time near 35 minutes was virtually impossible for me. However, I’m stubborn and I wanted a time as close to 35 minutes as possible.

We pushed hard and finished in 36:54…just a minute and 20 seconds off from last year’s time! Not too shabby!

After I crossed the finish line, I tore off the time tag from my number….and I gagged. Someone asked if I wanted water and I couldn’t even respond. I had to find the nearest trashcan, because this happened:

Not once, not twice, but THREE times. I felt awful.

I haven’t thrown up after a run since High School. I’ve felt like throwing up…but I never have.

The girl in pink was nearby when I was having my issues so after I felt better, I apologized to her and we talked for a few minutes (she’s in my running group). After I felt that my apology was sufficient, I walked over to meet my husband. Not even a minute later, the girl in pink and her husband (the one in black) walked over to talk to Jason! Hah! They went to high school and college together…..what a small world! It was a really funny moment…guess you would have had to have been there.

I love my friends! :0)

After we arrived home, we started putting things together for dinner tonight. We are having my family over to celebrate, then we are going to watch the fireworks down by the lake!

My puppy dogs wish you Happy 4th of July, too!

Hope you’ve had a great day! It’s definitely one I will never forget!
