Disney Cruise Line Adventures Part One

The final part of our Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend trip included a Disney Cruise onboard the newly re-imagined Disney Magic. Even though I’m a little behind on this recap, it’s still fun to look back at the pictures and re-live memories! :0)

It is not my goal to go moment by moment with this recap as I do have a vlog I’m going to make – in this post, you’ll find glimpses of the things we saw while on board. Stay tuned for the video! :0)

This was not our first time to cruise the Disney Magic but it was my parents first.  I was excited to see the changes that were made during the re-design and I was also excited to share the experience with my parents!

Disney Magic (3)Disney Magic

The first major change I noticed was the lobby – they removed an entire staircase, moved Mickey to the side, and re-designed the chandelier. Also, the carpets in the ship are fresh and new!

Disney Magic (4)

Adventures Away Sail Away Party – now that song is stuck in my head! Hah!

Disney Magic (5)

Everyone at the Sail Away party received these wand things – somehow, they all ended up in my hair!! (Yes, I also wore my Glass Slipper Challenge medal on board!)

Disney Magic (6)

Love sunsets at sea!

Disney Magic (2)

Mickey Waffles, anyone?

Castaway Cay (5)

A fish-eye-view of Castaway Cay

Castaway Cay (7)

My mom and I ran the Castaway Cay 5K, returned to our rooms to change and eat breakfast, then took the tram to Serenity Bay. My dad and husband were out on a fishing excursion that began as we disembarked the ship. In order to find each other, we took our wave phones and I’m pleased to say, they DID work on Serenity Bay/Castaway Cay!

Castaway Cay (2)

One of my favorite places in the world!

Castaway Cay (3)

This was our first time to actually spend most of our day on Serenity Bay. I would do it all over again, exactly the same way in a heartbeat. This area of the island is so quiet and peaceful – like nowhere I’ve ever been before!

Castaway Cay (4)

Funny story…I was reading on my kindle when I looked up and saw a random pirate stumbling (wandering?) through the island (obviously Jack Sparrow…but he was so out of place which was the random part). Overall, his time spent in our area of the island was hilarious and he played his character well!

Castaway Cay (6)

Starfish! Among other sea life we saw at Serenity Bay were several stingrays and two barracudas.

Castaway Cay

We could see a storm rolling in, so around 3:30 p.m. everyone packed up their belongings and headed back to the ship. I really was amazed to see how fast the island cleared out!

Re-Imagined Animators Palate

Formal night was in the also newly re-imagined Animator’s Palate. Someone forgot to wear sunscreen on his face. I wasn’t very happy with him, either. Can we say hat tan? Hah!

Re-Imagined Animators Palate (3)

Y’all. I’m in love with the re-design of Animator’s Palate. It’s incredible. (I have video footage I plan to include with the vlog.)

That’s all for now…stay tuned for Part 2 and a vlog of our cruise adventures coming up soon! :0)

Have you ever cruised before? If so, what’s your favorite cruise line/ship? If you’ve never cruised, what’s your favorite Disney food?

  1. I've done a river cruise on a barge in France and I've done a cruise of the Greek Isles on Royal Caribbean. Cruising is fun. I'd definitely do it again. I don't think I'd really like a Disney cruise, though. Too many kids!

    1. Those cruises sound incredible! We didn't notice very many kids - we usually try to cruise when school is in session. :0)

  2. I LOVE Disney Cruises! I've cruised with Disney twice (one was my college graduation gift from my parents and the second time was on our honeymoon!) I've cruised another cruise line since and there is no comparison! Disney is the best! Animators Palate was my favorite restaurant on the cruise! So awesome!

    1. SO much fun!! I agree, there is no comparison at all! Love AP, too!

  3. Great recap so far Karen! You all look fabulous on formal night! We have cruised, Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and Norwegian and have loved them all. I can't wait to do DCL soon!

    1. Oh my goodness, you've really gotten a taste of them all! So far, I've cruised Norwegian and Disney. I hope you get to do DCL soon, too! You're going to love it!

  4. "I love you Olaf!"

My family cruised around the Baltic Sea, but I think the next one I do I'll want it to be the Caribbean.

    1. Olaf! He was too cute...and his hips swayed like a hula doll. Too cute! Oh my goodness I bet the Baltic Sea cruise was amazing!

  5. Disney Dream last April with my mom and 8 month old daughter. It was FANTASTIC and I have amazing pictures of my little one all over having fun.

    1. Sounds like a lot of fun!! Glad you guys had a great time! :0)

  6. I want to go on a cruise especially a Disney cruise, but hubby is dead against the cruise idea - so I guess I need to live through your posts instead - it looks amazing

  7. I have never been on a cruise, but really want to go sometime.

  8. I have never been on a cruise, but would love to go on a Disney Cruise! Looks like you had a great time!

  9. Omg your cruise looks and sounds so incredible! All the gorgeous photos make me want to go on a Disney Cruise now!!

    1. Thank you, Lauren! You would really enjoy the cruise line!

  10. How awesome! And Castaway Cay was my absolute fave part of our 4 day cruise a few years ago. Would love to check out Serenity Bay one day but we had all three munchkins, so I couldn't make it over! Can't wait to see the rest!

  11. I really love reading and following your post as I find them extremely informative and interesting. This post is equally informative as well as interesting . Thank you for information you been putting on making your site such an interesting. I gave something for my information. Cruise Ships

  12. I just know my kids would get such a kick out of a Disney Cruise experience like this (as would I). They've done a wonderful job with the redesign, as evidence in the pictures. Thank you. plantar fasciitis shoes
