CORE Foods Review

Recently, I was given the opportunity to test and review vegan meal bars produced by CORE Foods.

I was sent three different flavors to sample – Banana Walnut, Cashew Cacao, and Almond Raisin. For this review, I sampled Banana Walnut.

Taken from their website:

CORE Meals are FRESH portable food. They're as convenient as packaged products, but they're not candy, they're food. Each pack is 4 hours of stable, balanced energy. Grab instead of breakfast when you're in a rush, or after a workout for a solid recovery.

What’s in them, exactly?

For starters, I loved the ingredients because I could read and understand each and every word! Score! (Unfortunately, being able to understand the ingredients on food labels does not happen often…)

One bar plus 2 glasses of water equals 1 bowl of oatmeal and four hours of stable energy.

I check out the nutrition facts on everything I eat and this was no different! 400 calories is a little more than I typically consume for breakfast, but I’m not complaining because I felt full all morning!

Bananas are one of my most favorite things in this world, so I was excited to sample the Banana Walnut bar first. I really enjoyed the taste, the flavor, and the texture. It was not super sweet, but I didn’t find that I missed the sweetness at all.

CORE foods are easy to store – however, they are perishable. They are good frozen for 6 months, in the fridge for 1 month, and on the go for 1 week. If placed in the freezer, CORE Foods need to thaw for 10 minutes prior to consuming. Easy peasy!
  • CORE Foods are FRESH – it doesn't sit on the shelf forever
  • CORE Foods are real FOOD - 5-7 raw organic, locally grown ingredients are used
  • CORE Foods are NOT FOR PROFIT – focusing on quality, leaving the money out of it
When is a good time to eat CORE Foods, you might ask? Good question!
  • Pre-Workout: Consume 30 minutes before key training sessions to increase your output
  • Endurance Fuel: Consume during endurance competitions and trainings for stable energy output
  • Post-Workout: Consume 10 minutes after your protein shake to fuel muscular recovery during the critical hours your body is rebuilding
Did someone say pre-race fuel? Yes, I think so…
