Your running bag, that is!
I ran 10 miles with a friend on Saturday and as I was preparing for my run, I came to a realization about my running bag…
It’s time has come to an end.
This bag has been with me from the very beginning – I bought it in 2009 when I first started my running journey. It’s travelled to multiple races and events and it’s carried all of my junk essential race items every step of the way!
R.I.P. Pink GoRun bag.
I organized my closet this weekend and stumbled across this little gem…
I won this bag from a race a few years back and forgot about it. Hello new running bag! :0)
So, what’s in that huge pile of stuff?
In no particular order:
Music
- iPhone case (that fits my Otterbox! Yay!)
- YurBuds
- iPod with strap (not used as much anymore now that I have one for my iPhone)
- Ear buds
my husband wonfrom the Brooks Cavalcade at a Rock N Roll Expo
Sunglasses
- Ryer’s (from a giveaway I won a few years back)
- Oakley’s (my husband bought them for me for my birthday the year I began running)
Fuel
- GU – I prefer Gels over Chomps but that’s just my liking
- Luna Bar – sample size from an Expo
- Clif Bar – sample size from an Expo
- Lara Bar – I bought a box of mini’s from Target (did you know those were available? I didn’t!) and I like to keep a few on hand
Tracking and Carrying
Hair and Body
- Ponchos for rain emergencies
- Hand Warmers for cold races
- Hair bands/bobby pins
- Sweaty Bands (the blue Sweaty Band is Goofy specific from the WDW Expo and the Fleur de Lis Mickey/Minnie was made by a friend of mine!)
Freshen Up
- Tissues for a runny nose
- Towel from my running group
- Gum
- Hand Sanitizer
- Frogg Toggs Chilly Pad for warm days (if you’ve never tried one of these, you need to…it absorbs water and stays cool for a long time!)
Safety
- Road ID Band
- Inspirational arm bands – one from Team 413 and the other from Claim Your Journey
- Night reflector
- Supernova light
- GoRun blinking light
- Safety Pins
Knee Essentials (If I could fit my foam roller in my bag, I would!)
- Knee sleeve (looking to rid of this in the near future) :0)
- Knee brace
- Atomic Balm (Seriously AMAZING stuff!)
Toiletries
- Body Glide x 2
- Deodorant
- Sunology – all natural sunblock samples from the Rock N Roll NOLA Expo
- H2O lotion from Disney Resorts
- Chapstick
(I left off two things from this list: Essential woman items – you know what I’m talking about – and Tylenol because I used the rest of it at Rock N Roll NOLA.)
There you have it! Now tell me, what’s in YOUR running bag? Did I leave anything out that you carry from race to race?
Hmmm I am thinking I need a running bag like this! I always unpack all my running essentials after each race...but I could totally do this and keep it all together! Thanks for the idea Karen!!!
ReplyDeleteWelcome!! :0) I agree...it's a nice way to keep everything in one spot! A good way to remember things I need for races, too!
DeleteCleaned out my bag after the last race and found all of my room keys from races I've traveled to, 4 pairs of headphones, and a 3 yr old Accel gel, eww. Prob need to keep it more organized.
ReplyDeleteBahaha! Very nice, Scott! Love the 3 yr old Accel gel!
DeleteI am nowhere near as prepared as you! I don't carry half that stuff from race to race. But I love your "New" running bag. I use a bad similar to that for going to baseball games. In that case, I am very prepared for whatever weather we might encounter. Hahaha.
ReplyDeleteI like that! Never know what kind of weather to expect!
DeleteI have a gym bag still packed with all my CrossFit stuff, even though I haven't done CF since September. I don't really have a running bag. I keep all of that kind of stuff in a box in the closet and just pull what I need for each race or training run. I have a similar box with cycling stuff.
ReplyDeleteThat's smart too! I like the box idea! :0)
DeleteNice list Karen! I also have a hat and Wet Wipes in my bag!
ReplyDeleteLove those items too! Great idea! :0)
DeleteThanks for stopping by, and for your well wishes. I have faith in God that everything is going to work out, and I can continue to work out, so that's a plus!
ReplyDeleteBack to race bags... Mine looks A LOT like yours! Although, no knee supplies and I didn't know that Body Glide made an anti-pain formula. I need to look into that. My additions are a hat or visor and chapstick!
This is a great idea! I don't have a running bag, but I clearly need to put one together of all of the essentials. It would be great for races and for when I head out on long runs with friends.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I love having it, easy and convenient when I'm going for a run! :0)
