Breathtaking Sunrise

Did anyone catch the blood moon last night? I set my alarm for 2:30 a.m. and unfortunately, the clouds were too thick to see the moon. Guess I’ll try again in October!

Today is also a day of remembrance for Boston. My heart goes out to the families who were affected in the tragedy. What I enjoy hearing are the stories of hope and love that arose out of such a hateful act. Boston Strong!

On Saturday morning, our running route led us down a road we don’t often travel.

It’s a road that runs along a river…a road where sunrises don’t disappoint.

Saturday morning was no exception. As Heather and I rounded the bend in the road, we caught our first glimpse of what promised to be a the makings of a beautiful morning!

I absolutely love running early in the morning on Saturdays (the rest of the week can keep early mornings as I do treasure my sleep)! There’s just something about being up early, running a long run, watching the sunrise, and connecting with God and nature – it’s one of my favorite parts of the week.

In total, three miles of our six mile run were spent on this road, which afforded plenty of gorgeous views!

Saturday morning’s run left me feeling inspired, invigorated, and ready to tackle the day…exactly the way I like to start my weekend!

Are you an early morning runner? What’s your favorite part of a long run?

  1. I'm an early morning runner on Saturdays, especially if I have a long run to do. I like getting it done and out of the way so I can enjoy the rest of my weekend.

  2. Beautiful post, and I don't just mean the photos. The words, too!

That quote by Henry David Thoreau is actually quite perfect for what is happening in my life right now - thank you for posting it!

  3. I do enjoy running in the early morning, but with my recent incident, I like to be outside only after day break. My favorite part of a long run is having a buddy to keep me company and the satisfaction when it is done and I can have a treat! :)
